Any word on these muzzle loaders? I see they have a hammer, and are supposed to be quite easy to clean. The price looks nice as well. Looking at the camo model.

I have the black one. I get out 4 or 5 times during muzzleloader season so this gun is perfect for me. It is easy to clean and fool proof. I have no complaints. Its dead on at 50 yards with iron sights.

I am not trying to compare it to a TC. I realize they are the real deal. But I am just getting into ML hunting, and may give this to one of my kids as I upgrade. When you say “Crap” can you give me some “For Instances” so I may know what to watch out for or avoid?
    Thanks!

Chris I can not speak about the CVA as I have not shot one, I have heard both good and bad about them. I have the TC Omega with the Blue/Black barrel, if I had it to do over again I would have spent the extra $$$ and went with the stainless barrel.

Next year I am thinking about taking the plung and going with the new TC Encore Endeavor

I have the black one. It is a great gun. It obviously isn’t going to compare to any T/C gun, however the price was right and the wallet was tight. Make sure you get one with metal sights as the plastic ones have a tendency to get nocked off. They are easy to clean and are accurate at over 100 yards. In all great gun, easy to figure out and lots of fun.

I put one in the hands of my 15yr old daughter. It’s a cheaper gun, but not some crap that would be dangerous. It’s a good gun for the money, and does the job. Great starter gun that could be handed down.

Compared to a T/C it is crap. The T/C is a high quality gun. Then again a marlin, or winchester are also crap compared to a Weatherby. Still how many winchester 30/30’s are bought every year. Used year after year then handed down to begining hunter. CVA makes a good gun that the average working man can afford. Blackpowder is not cheap compared to standard rifle hunting. All the extras sure add up!! A lot like bow hunting. Then in that case a Bear bow is also crap compared to a Mathews. Still how many of you started hunting with a Bear bow, or a Winchester model 94 30/30!!! My wife still hunts with and loves her Model 94!

So I say go for it. You will like it, and will know more about the sport for your next upgrade.

    JMO!!!

Steve- That is a good price for the low end T/C. Still the price for the CVA Wolf with the black synthetic stock is 149.99 for camo it’s 189.99 at least at cabelas. For the $40 I will go black!

IMHO I would spend a little more and buy the Optima. Great gun for the price and very accurate and easy to clean!

Cabela’s should also be coming out with the promo where you spend x number of dollars and get x number of dollars off for club members. Max I belive spend $500 get $150 off, so on a $850 TC Encore Endeavor – $150 – $50 rebate = $650.

Check with them when you walk in about spending deals as well. Seems everytime I get there they are always offering 20-50 off for spending something. I get a lot of the spend 150 get 20 off from.

    Good luck, and Merry XMAS
