I just got a .270 and got her bore sighted. I am going to get to the range to get it zero’d in, but this is my first .270, what is a good grain bullet for whitetail and also factory loads? I know for my 30-06 I used the Remington express Core-Lokt in 180gr.

When I was shooting factory loads with mine I had good luck with the Federal Premium 130 grain Balistic tips.

Wade, I shoot 150Gr Core-Lokt with my .270. I am comfortable to 250 yards with no problem.

With the price of premium loads, you may want to stick with the Remington Core-Loct 130gr. Both my sons shoot them in their .270’s and they work just fine.

My brother uses Fedreal Premium 140gr. Trophy Bonded Bearclaw’s. Great bullets, but they should be for the price($45-$50/box). I’ve seen him shoot through 2″ saplings and kill the deer. It was close range and a standing shot, but the bullet still went straight through the tree and dropped the buck. He still has the section of tree hanging from the rack of that buck to prove the story to any doubters. He usually only shoots one deer a year, so I guess a box of shells lasts him about 10 years.

I am a little late jumping on this thread…but I shoot a Remington Model 700 and shoot the Rem 130 Core Loct and I can shoot the Federal 150 grain and hold the same zero of an inch and a half high at 100 yards. No premium rounds for me. Never needed them, and I have shot out to 300 yards in Wyoming.

I got the Remington Core-lokt 150gr for the .270. Something about how that bullet performs in other calibers had me going back. I got it sighted in at 200 yds and ready to roll
