My first AR build

I have kicked around the idea of getting an AR for quite a while. After going to a gun show last year and seeing all the parts available, I thought it would be fun to build one. Plus it would save on a little cash. I just finished it and haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet – hopefully I’ll have time this weekend. For anybody that has thought about building one – it’s really easy. I did buy a complete upper, but everything else I assembled. It only took a little over an hour to get everything together. Before and after pics attached.

    Nice!

But a little long for me to hide in my pants…

Nice build Hof! Going to break it in right? On some yotes?

Eventually I’m hoping to try it on yotes, but I’ve never hunted them before, so that may be a ways off.

No offense Brian, but I’m not really interested in what you stick in your pants!

If I could ask. What was the total price you have in it??? Just checking to see what it would be in comparison to buying one complete. I currently own one and love it. Dont get a hole lot of time to put in to it but when I do I enjoy it

C Hof, which upper did you end up going with?

The actual upper receiver and free float tube are DPMS. The barrel was custom made and the upper half was put together by Gilbert Gun Exchange in Elk Mound, WI. He came across some barrels blanks a while back and made a bunch of uppers. I think he may have a couple left. He gave me a really good deal on it.
