I never miss a squirrel

Why is it, when using my XD-45 I never miss a squirrel? Ever.

Sometime they are shots that I don’t think and expert could make. Sometimes I take longer to aim…but the lead always ends up hitting it’s mark.

    Man…dreams are great aren’t they?

That is a silly question BK, the XD is the best semi-auto on the market. I have shot alot of handguns (Glocks, S&W, 1911s) and the XD models im my opinion are the best. These guns are super accurit, low recoil, durable firearms!

I would trade two Glocks for one XD.

I agree with you in part Saumy…but I haven’t shot all the hand guns out there.

I have a Glock 26, their 9mm subcompact and it’s a very nice handgun for CC. I put the Crimson Trace lazer grips on it and extended the 3″ barrels accuracy…or should I say MY accuracy by about 10″.

The XD-45 is much heavier, 14 rounds of 45’s will do that without the gun being any more in weight. It has a much better “feel”, more accurate in my hands and it’s just a neet hand gun.

What I don’t like about the Glock is that it’s a little on the wide side in the grip…nothing I would get rid of it for..but just a little wide…but mostly, after 15 feet..the holes in a target are all over the place. It’s not a target gun.

What I don’t like about the XD is that it’s pretty hard to conceal. Not totally impossible…but hard and it’s weight for everyday carry.

Some don’t like it’s safety features…but then there are some that think the Glock should have more…

Oh…and then there’s the difference in ammo prices.

BK, I agree with you that the size and weight of the .45acp is a bit cumbersome. In fact I am not a fan of the .45acp in any double stack magazine, just makes the grips to dang fat for me to hold onto with comfort.

Now if we are talking CC, I love my Kahr PM40. It is about the size of a PPK with the punch of the .40cal. It is not the most fun to shoot, it’s a pocket rocket and has some kick. But it is extremly light, and very accurate (even with such a short barrel I can make a tight grouping at 15-20 yards).

    Comes in 9mm also.

I strongly considered the Kahr 9 and 40 for CC. I decided against it either because the Glock 26 was right in front of me or because a friend of mine bought one.

Actually, I wanted the least expensive ammo…and the 9 fit the bill..the Glock was a bit smaller…although as you pointed out wider. ‘course, don’t ask me to explain the XD-45 using that rational!

I went through three holsters before finding just the right one for me.

1st…Inside the waist band (I’m talking the G-26 here)
I like this holster…except I would have to buy all new pants to get it to “fit” comfortable. Also getting in and out of the car was at times..painful.

2nd The plastic formed Fobus outside the waist band holster. Clips on to my belt. This one eliminated the tight pants and pain getting in and out of a car, but it was easily spotted because it stuck out from the hip. Almost needed a jacket to keep it concealed. It holds the weapon a bit low for my liking too.
One night at a favorite restaurant of mine, I raised my arms to put on a jacket and my untucked shirt raised up exposing my little Glock. This lady across the dinning room dropped her jaw in the salad.

3rd. The leather No.82 Bianchi It’s the kind that your belt slides through. Has the pistol lock so it’s only coming out of the holster if you want it to…and it rides high on the waist. I guess some people don’t like it because to remove the holster the belt has to be partially taken off…but I haven’t found that to be a problem. A loose fitting polo shirt covers it well.

By the way, the Kahrs have a very nice look to them.

I carry the Kahr in an inside the pants holster, I like to have it up front between my hip and navel, no real reason other than it is accessible and comfortable for me. I also carry it in an ankle holster. The ankle holster makes it in my opinion totally concealed and undetectable, but the drawback is no shorts, not as easily accessed and it is not as comfortably worn as one might think.
I use the No.82 Bianchi when I am carrying my full size XD and my Glock. I love this holster! It sits close to my body and with a relatively long shirt allows me to conceal my full size auto, plus it gives me the peace of mind that the gun and the holster are going to stay in place no matter what kind of tussle, slip and fall, etc, I may get into.
For anyone looking at the molded plastic Fobus type holster spend a little more and get a quality holster like the Bianchi. I had a Fobus paddle holster for my XD and it is now in a landfill. These holsters are affordable but the draw backs outweigh the price. I found that the holster was difficult to conceal, did not allow for a quick draw of the firearm ( I found that it would often take 2-3 good tugs to get it just right so the gun would un-holster). Also unless my belt was uncomfortable tight any struggle would potentially cause the paddle on the holster to break free thus the firearm would be out of my control. My opinion is that these holsters are unpractical and unsafe.

I ran a box thru it in the woods. Not a very controlled situation. I was impressed but cant wait to do some range shooting. I need to shoot my other pistols too. Practice practice. Sunday is tough for me. Can you get out on a weeknight? I’ll drive from my house.
