Firing Pin

I told the future father-in-law I would get him a firing pin for his old gun.

He said his father removed it when he was young and never returned it.

Any idea on where I would find something like this?

It says Montgomery Wards Hercules. My brief research showed it’s likely made by Stevens.

    Thanks,

    Know a good machinist?

My jaw would drop if you could find a pin for that….although there were 100’s sold.

You could try http://www.brownells.com for drawings and perhaps parts? I have found several exploded drawings there.

You might also try http://www.midwayusa.com/ I see Larry Potterfield on the outdoor network advertising all the time.
He is always showing gunsmithing tips.

If you can find a drawing you can have one made. I had a machinist friend make one for my over under. He used the good one for reference. Then I hardened and annealed it myself. It’s been working fine so far.

Joe’s Sporting Goods in Roseville has a smith on duty.

    Ferny.

    Thanks so much guys!

Not only due to these leads I’m certain I can get this pin, but it looks like it will cost less than $10 before shipping. I’m very surprised.

Now I just need to figure out the model number.

I will need help with this as well.

I’ll post a photo of the engravings I found and see if you guys can come to my aid again.

    Thanks so much!

My pictures of the engravings are not turning out well.

Under the fore-arm there is a number engraved, “47805”, that doesn’t seem to correspond to a model number.

You guys have been so helpful.

Any advice on a good source for gun ID?

    Thanks,

    Sully
