    I would really like to get a 223 for praire dogs. Any one know of a maker that offers one in a stainless barrel with a thumbhole stock?

    Also you can buy after market thumbhole stocks for almost any rifle.They are not real costly.cabelas has a bunch of them.

    DPMS makes a few nice stainless barreled AR’s for hunting the dogs! I love the way mine works. If you go out to the Dakotas’ hunting them it’s nice to be able to get multiple shots off fast when the dogs are in the open.

    You can get a pretty nice savage for a reasonable price with a heavy barrel. I would make sure you put just as much into you scope as you do you rifle though. Your scope is a major componiant to sucess in my opinion.
