Which would you buy Nikon or Luepold scope?

My first choice would be the Leupold, only because I am familar with them, I have a Vari X 3 on my rifle

In my mind you can’t beat a Luepold. The durability of them is awesome. Dropped mine on the cement one year target shooting and it never effected it one bit.

The upper end Nikons are dang nice, but I still like my fixed 4x Leupold better than any other scope I have ever owned. No frills, just a clear un-fogged reticle everytime I put it to my eye….never have to worry about it.

It really depends on which models you are looking at. Some of the lower end leopolds have some very poor features. If you look at the Burris and Nikon scopes you will see they are one piece scopes (made from one solid piece of aluminum) as compared to the 3 piece vx-1 and 2 from leo. Also, you have to get to the vx-3 to get to fully multicoated lenses, in the lower end leopolds they only coat the outside of both the end lenses. In all of the nikon and burris scopes they coat both sides of all four lenses. The coating the companies put on the lenses help to transfer light thru the scope to your eye giving you a better sight picture in low light.

My opinion is the higher end leopold’s are great scopes, but if you are looking for a mid range I would go with either a nikon or a burris.

    Just my .02 cents.

You guys might want to look at these scopes Pentax Scopes

Priced right and I was surprised at the level of light and clarity of these scopes. Plus your not going to be out a bunch of $$$$$$$.

I remember reading an article a while back done by one of the shooting magazines on scope comparisons. They tested variable scopes in the 3-9 range and, all things compared, the Weaver scopes came out on top! They compared quality of glass, 1-piece construction, reticle alignment, price, quality, blah blah blah…..I couldn’t believe it!

My dad and I both hunt with .308 rifles. Mine has a Leupold VX-1, his has a Nikon Pro Staff. Neither one of us have ever issued one complaint about our scopes, nor have we bashed the other. Both have taken “wipeouts” in the field and survived with flying colors. They dialed right back in.

My advice? Forget about what everyone says and go compare the scopes you like side by side. The one that works best with your eyes, buy that one. Both make great products!

Well I found a nice Leupold on EBAY 2x 20, so as soon as it gets here, good to go.
