I’m just wondering if anybody has one for some feedback.
Made in USA, Lifetime Warranty, ridiculously cheap.
It sounds too good to be true.

    Thanks,

    Ferny.

I was looking at one a year or so ago. Not because I was interested in Hi Point, but because I was looking at pistols and I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. So I asked the guy at the counter what he knew and he said that high quality ammo was a must or it’d have action issues. Also, he mentioned that the durability wasn’t great. Even if it has a lifetime warranty, how satisfied will you be after repair if you weren’t pleased when it was new? I figure, if lifetime means a lifetime of repairs, it’s not worth the purchase.

I was interested in a 9mm so I bought a Taurus 24/7 Pro. It also has a Lifetime Warranty but a much better reputation for performance. Visit their website sometime…….. it’s a pretty impressive firearm for it’s price. I don’t know what cal. you’re interested in but for auto-loading handguns, I’d look elsewhere.

I have a Hi-Point 9 mm. They are dirt cheap and look like a toy, but I still have fun blasting away with it. I have tried to site it in, but getting any type of “group” is about impossible. I’m not a big pistol guy anyway, so I could be doing something wrong. I probably only have 150 rounds thru mine but it still works great. A couple buddies have them to and they have no complaints. Another friend has the 9mm rifle and he really has fun with that.

Jam easily, ZERO accuracy, loose tolerances, junk! Buying a pistol that can’t hit the broad side of a barn, what for? All you’ll have is a ammo wasting noise maker. A few of my buddies had to run and expand their collections with a high point 9mm, I couldn’t bring myself to do it…you get what you pay for. No way I would trust that toy to protect my family…Garbage! My buddies that wasted their cash will say the same thing.

    Sorry guys that own one.

The one I shot (9mm) was a turd and didn’t work good, It was my buddy’s gun he said it did work good with one or two brands of ammo. I however didn’t have that brand.

I did hear some people had the as cheap backup guns Like one they could always keep in their car or truck locked up, or maybe at the cabin, so they didn’t have to transport one all the time.

    High point = POS!

Go with a used anything from sigarms. I just got a used sig p225. It was a former police gun and is extremly acurate. I got it at gander mountain for 350$. You can send them in to sig for 125$ to have it cleaned all the way down and all the springs and sights replaced with night sites.

I love my Hi Point 9mm! It jams once in a while. The first round out of each and every clip stove pipes. The accuracy is second to none. I can keep a 23 inch group at 15 yards!
Other than those minor flaws, and of course the horrible fit and finish, it’s a great gun.

I have a C9 and have run close to 1000 rounds through it and have had two FTFs, both the shooters fault for holding it too loose.

I admit it gets a bit under my skin when people badmouth the High Point as it is 99% BS. They see a cheap gun and assume it is a POS. Wrong. I’ll shoot my High Point alongside any brand anytime and be just fine. The HP’s may be ugly and crude but they are functional as heck. Not a dream gun by any means but it isn’t a POS. The company is first rate to deal with should you have any warranty concerns as well.

But don’t take my word for it. Visit a forum with a lot of High Point owners and get it right from actual owners mouths.

Besides the pistols they also have carbines and they are some of the most reliable guns you can buy. Many police departments are running around with High Point carbines in their squads so I guess they must work well enough for them.

    Hey Riveratt,
I’m not assuming it’s a POS. I own one, and it IS a POS and it IS a cheap gun. I didn’t expect much for $149 and that’s what I got… not much. It does go bang 85% of the time, so for the price, I like it.

I’m curious what makes your High Point a POS? Like any manufactured device something can be wrong. I’m curious if you sent yours back to HP to have it fixed? If something is wrong with it and you’ve not made an attempt to have it repaired then there is little to complain about.

I try to not convince people that the HP’s are a good weapon but it is hard. The more people that don’t like them the fewer are sold and the longer they stay cheap. Cheap is good.

Ferny has made me aware of some mods and clean up of sharp edges on the clips that are suppose solve jamming problems.
I’ll try’em and let you know how it goes. Maybe I can polish this turd and make it shine.

Take a peek at the link I posted above and you’ll find some excellent sources on these little gems. Polishing the feed ramp is something I’ve read about as well but I haven’t had to do it on mine.

The company is great to work with and will repair your pistol and send it back with a free magazine, no questions asked. Good luck.

I haven’t owned or shot one, but I’d seriously recommend you talk with some good gunsmiths. Even the guys that sell them say they’re junk. And really when you think about it, how can someone sell a new pistol for $100 that you’d want to rely on for your safety. If you just want something to shoot at the range and you don’t care how it functions, knock yourself out. But I’d still go to the range and rent one first if you can. Just my nickels worth.

But nothing. You have zero to base the rest of your reply on. Again I’m sorry to come across as an [censored] but if you’ve never even held one (never mind shot one!) then you have absolutely no basis for any endorsement pro or con in my opinion. Even the guy that sells them says they are junk? Is he an idiot trying to sabotage his own inventory? That’s among the dumbest thing I read about any given product. “Even the (Insert sellers name here) says they are junk!” Then why sell them? Did High Point goons come into this guys store and force him to stock junk? Please, at least give advice on something you have experience with. Price in no way determines function. How many times have you heard, or said, about any given product: “Yeah but your paying for the name with that.”

As for relying on a $100.00 (actually most HP’s bring almost double that now ) some people can’t afford or justify a high dollar gun. One thing we all know is the gun you have is far better than the one you wish you had regardless of it’s price. Price or brand will never guarantee proper operation in any situation. Buy what you can afford and practice with it until it functions as an extended part of your body. I’ve watched a guy shoot (with his C9) circles around a guy using an XD45! Did it make the XD junk? Nope. Didn’t make the HP superior either. One thing it did do is prove the HP can hold it’s own with many other brands.

First off right or wrong everyone here at IDO is entitled to there opinion so please do not tell them they have zero to base there reply on.

Second I had never heard of High Point before this was posted but I can tell you from what I have read here that I would never buy one.

That’s enough info for me to make up my mind, I would not waste my time to even look at one.
