They need to be able to draw a line and recognize weapons for hutning and weapons for other uses IMO.

Right on Rip! Like I said before…there are “Shooting Sports” and there are “Hunting Sports”! Obviously Jim should’ve chosen his words more carefully, but in theory I would agree with him 100%.

But then what do we do, side with the anitgunners and allow them to take away “black” guns Where does it stop then? Do hunters throw target shooters to the wolves? I thought we did it for enjoyment, and did not hurt anyone?

I should be able to have any gun that is legal. If these are now not legal, what’s next? Semi auto shotguns with synthetic stocks, my bolt action .30-06 with a synthetic stock, my Ruger 10-22 with a target barrel and synthetic stock?

I guess I don’t see the difference between this semi auto, and the next semi auto other then looks, and my Mommy taught me to not judge a book by it’s cover

Farmboy, I’m not getting where you are coming from????

No where did I say that those “black” guns should be illegal to own???

    I did agree with

    Quote:

I couldn’t care less about what people are shooting at a range or keeping in their closets/safes, and I absolutely support anyone’s right to own any gun.

That’s the beauty of living in America….everyone can express their own opinion and take whatever side they want! But as for me, I would never side with the antigunners!!!!

Sorry Lip, I guess I had read the:

    Quote:

They need to be able to draw a line and recognize weapons for hunting and weapons for other uses IMO.

And took it to mean you were against private ownership of those weapons. Concentrated on one part, but not the whole.

I take it then, that you feel they are a bad representation of hunters and sportsmen, but not bad as a whole?

United we stand, divided we fall. It is coming down to this. Our rights will be further infringed upon following the upcoming Presidential election. Profound gun control can be enacted very rapidly. A perfect example is Australia.

Many of you guys are making the same mistake Zumbo did.The 2nd amendment is not about hunting. Hunting isn’t even mentioned in it.I personally don,t like “black” guns either but I do believe in the constitution so until its changed I would never argue against someones choice of weaponry.

OK, my take on the situation. Jim made the big mistake of saying…”terrorist weapon”.. That was a definate no, no. He should have remembered his sponsors and that they make those weapons too.

Ok my thoughts continued. I am an owner of an Colt AR-15, and Ruger mini-30 and mini-14 and also a past owner of an SKS. I’m first going to say all of these weapons are considered assault rifles. The AR, mini-14 and SKS…are exactly what you would call “TACK Driver” With open sites on these weapons I am very accurate out to 300 yds with the AR and mini-14 and The SKS 200yds. Now picture the AR weapon in your head and close your eyes….Please do it….What do you see?

Here is what I have. My AR when I have used it for hunting has a fixed stock, flat top with 4-12×40 scope, no front site, 5 rd magazine, wow…sounds like a normal semi auto hunting rifle doesn’t it.

What were you expecting…an expandable stock, 30rd mag, lazer site, front grip, flashlight, trijicon optic site….this same weapon has all of this stuff on it when it is out on patrol with me. Dual purpose weapon….I hate it when people stereotype or profile people. I can almost bet everyone of you thought of that AR as “assault rifle” not hunting rifle as I described. I use my AR all the time for prairie dogs and coyotes. As far as my SKS again…great weapon, light, accurate good all around deer rifle. Mine again only had a 5 rd magazine. I used this all the time when we were on deer drives. I called it a good “brush gun” others call it an “assault rifle”.

Do I agree with these guys out shoting like they think they are in Iraq? NO….I may not be in favor of C/C but I do respect my rights to a gun owner. Jim should have watched a little closer on word choice….

Yep exaclty. After re reading it that point was not so clear. I’m just saying they need to be able seprate the 2 for Hunting purposes IMO.. Both are still OK to own as I believe as others have stated we need to stick together to fight these anti-gunners.

Outdoor Life And Jim Zumbo Part Ways
    By Todd. W. Smith
    Editor-in-Chief

Outdoor Life magazine Editor-in-Chief Todd Smith released the following statement today regarding writer Jim Zumbo:

    February 2007

In light of comments made by Jim Zumbo in his February 16, 2007 blog posting on the magazine’s website, Mr. Zumbo has offered to terminate his association with Outdoor Life, and the magazine has accepted his offer. Accordingly, he will no longer be contributing to the magazine in print or online. His final column with Outdoor Life will appear in the April 2007 issue, which has already gone to press.

We respect Mr. Zumbo’s First Amendment right to free speech, and we acknowledge his subsequent apology and admission of error. However, Outdoor Life has always been, and will always be, a steadfast supporter of all aspects of the shooting sports and our Second Amendment rights, which do not make distinctions based on the appearance of the firearms we choose to own, shoot or hunt with.

We regret this turn of events, as Mr. Zumbo has been a good friend to this magazine and lifelong advocate for hunters and hunting rights.

We appreciate the comments we’ve received from our loyal readers about this matter and encourage them to continue to correspond with us. Please direct any additional comments to [email protected].

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Remington to Sever Sponsorship Ties with Jim Zumbo

Madison, North Carolina – As a result of comments made by Mr. Jim Zumbo in recent postings on his blog site, Remington Arms Company, Inc., has severed all sponsorship ties with Mr. Zumbo effective immediately. While Mr. Zumbo is entitled to his opinions and has the constitutional right to freely express those opinions, these comments are solely his, and do not reflect the views of Remington.

“Remington has spent tens of millions of dollars defending our Second Amendment rights to privately own and possess firearms and we will continue to vigorously fight to protect these rights,” commented Tommy Millner, Remington’s CEO and President. “As hunters and shooters of all interest levels, we should strive to utilize this unfortunate occurrence to unite as a whole in support of our Second Amendment rights.”

We regret having to terminate our long-standing relationship with Mr. Zumbo, who is a well-respected writer and life-long hunter.

His show on the Outdoor Channel, “Hunting With Jim Zumbo”, has also been cancelled.

I dont personally have an A.R. but some friends hunt yotes with them and I have no problem with that!! Your benelli shotgun shoots just like they do semi auto…Ever seen Tom Knapp shoot his??? Just as fast or faster. We gun owners and responsible hunters need to stick together..AR, Mini 14 or whatever as long as it is used responsibly..
