I’m looking to buy a Turkey Gun in the next month and would like to hear the pros/cons about Remington 870 Super Magnum & Mossberg 835 Uti-Mag. I’ve shot the Mossberg but not the Remington. This gun will only be used for Turkey. So, please keep that in consideration when stating your opinion. Also, chokes. If you have a preference for a different choke other than the manufacturer’s I would like to know the reason. Lastly, if there is a gun you would like to comment on other then the two listed above please do. I plan on using this gun for a long time so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

bennelli nova is nice gun also in that price range about 350.00 it is also 3.5 inch gun. As far as chokes go i use a modified that is what i get the best results with,my advice is to pattern the gun on paper differnt chokes and shells, And distance that u would shoot at all guns seem to shoot differnt even if they are the same kind. I actualy have the best luck wit the modified choke and 3in #4s hope this helps you. good luck

January 11, 2007 at 2:38 pm #28127I posted this in the turkey hunting section too. I have the 870 Express Super magnum turkey. I absolutely love it. Short 23 inch barrel, chambers 2 3/4 to 3 1/2. The remington extra full turkey choke with a winnchester extended 3 inch 6 shot is the best combo for me.

I was told when hunting Turkey in MN that you have to use a Turkey load that is 4 shot or smaller. Is that true? The 1st year that I hunted for Turkey I was trying to get one w/ my bow and on the last day my friend let me use his gun. I didn’t have any shells myself so he gave me 3 Steel Shot shells. Wouldn’t you know it I shot a Tom w/ 1.5″ spurs & a 10.5″ beard. It was dumb luck. Anyway, I’ve only used 5 shot since. When I buy a gun I will definitly use a veriety to see which works best w/ the gun. thanksJanuary 11, 2007 at 8:39 pm #521568whitetails4ever…

Firearms/archery restrictions – Shotguns, including muzzle-loading shotguns using No. 4 or smaller diameter fine shot, or legal bow and arrow.
