Love my 11-87
No problems and it’s been through the swamp and back again! Doesn’t look good anymore but shoots great If only those ducks would get in front of the steel pellets a little more often

JonOctober 16, 2006 at 9:38 pm #22638There is a Russian semi auto on the market called the Baikal mp-153 that is very reasonable (near $300) and very dependable. It also shoots 3 1/2 inch shells.
The only downside of this gun as I can see is it is somewhat heavy and the fit and finish is not very good. But for a duck gun it seems to be perfect.October 16, 2006 at 9:38 pm #489345There is a Russian semi auto on the market called the Baikal mp-153 that is very reasonable (near $300) and very dependable. I just bought a Winchester Super X2 that was last years model in a 3.5 inch synthetic for $589. You can find many a nice gun in your price range if you are willing to buy a gun that is a year old new. I ask for them when I go to the gun counter because there not always going to sell you a gun that isn’t as much money. If you go to Reeds sporting goods web site they have lots of prices and info listed in their gun section. Good luck. Plenty of good guns out there in a auto that will fit your price range.

October 17, 2006 at 2:45 am #22664I’m with ya on ther super X2 3 1/2″ just picked one up this fall. Used a 1100 Rem. for years, still have the Berreta 391 that replaced my old Rem. But hands down like the X2 the best.
handles every thing from target loads for sporing clays to the big candles on the geese. Not quite as good of deal, but with the new rubberized stock for $650.October 17, 2006 at 2:45 am #489506I’m with ya on ther super X2 3 1/2″ just picked one up this fall. October 17, 2006 at 4:28 pm #22708Personally I love the Franchi’s have had one for about 7 years now and never had a problem even had it full of water once and it shot just fine.
Best shooting auto I ever had. I don’t like the 1100 because of the gas seal. 11-87 is an improvement but I have managed to get them to stop working. Franchi’s a working mans Benelli as far as the reliabilty goes. Plus on the 12’s they have an adjustable gas system that makes shooting simple light is for trap, heavy is for magnums up to 3 1/2’s.
Cannot say anything about the winchester X2’s never shot one.
I like them.
Just my 2 cents.

October 18, 2006 at 7:18 pm #22830Then get the 3 1/2! Seriously! The longer travel of the bolt makes trap and light hunting loads smooth as silk!
It is the nicest shooting gun I have ever owned, and that includes the Super Black Eagle!October 18, 2006 at 7:18 pm #490330Then get the 3 1/2! Seriously! The longer travel of the bolt makes trap and light hunting loads smooth as silk!
