Over the last year or so, I believe we have taken care of most IDA Members that wanted to take the class as it’s getting harder to have the minimum of 5 to sign up.
So…I thought if we just posted a sign up sheet (this post) and when enough people signed up we could coordinate a class…with the IDA discount of course. There are some that would like the discount, but also like privacy. No problem…send a private message to me and I’ll add a count to the list and contact those folks via pm or email.
Here’s the details:
Minnesota Concealed Carry Course
Minnesota statutes offer the law-abiding citizen the opportunity to secure a permit to carry a concealed firearm. This course is designed to meet the requirements to allow you to apply for that permit. Topics covered include:
* Handgun Basics
* Mental Preparation
* Shooting Fundamentals
* Use of Deadly Force
* Conflict Avoidance
* Basic Tactics
* Proficiency test
This is NOT an entry level class. Basic handgun experience is required. We suggest that you bring your cased and unloaded handgun, along with 50 rounds or more of factory ammunition. You may rent a firearm for $15.00 but remember, you must be able to safely operate the firearm and have a working knowledge of its safety features. We strongly recommend renting the model before your course date to familiarize your self with the firearm. The course is approximately 6 hours long. Cost is $150.00 ($125.00 for IDA Members) which includes classroom materials, range fee, targets, hearing and eye protection.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be given a certificate. A copy of this certificate, proficiency test and your I.D., along with other forms the state will provide, must be submitted with $100.00 fee to the county office in charge of processing permits where you live.
Students must register by replying to this post (or through PM to Briank).
If you have any questions about the course…requirements ect. please feel free to contact me through PM or a new post. I would like to keep this thread “clean” for sign ups only.
Thanks!
One added note…

There are a number of us that are regulars at Bill’s. If you don’t own a firearm, we could, if schedules allow, meet with you at Bill’s for some basic instruction with one of our personal firearms. Once comfortable, Bill’s has all the favorites to try/rent until you find the one that’s right for you.
