Had a similar situation with my shotgun years ago. Back when Sabot’s were really getting popular, I thought I would buy a couple of boxes. Guess I should have read up a little better. NEVER shoot a sabot through a non-riffled barrel. Yep, it exploded all right. Just above the screw that holds the barrel to the chamber. Peeled it back like a banana both directions. The total hole was about 4-5″ long. SCARY to say the least. I did not know it happened until I pumped the gun and went to shoot at the deer again. WOW, talk about filling your drawers. At least I am able to talk about it, I was mad as all get out at first, and then realized how lucky I was.
