The collar with the notch for steering control on my Terrova has cracked and I’m looking to swap it out. Has anyone removed the head and lift assist on a Terrova? I think the head should be pretty simple but I’m not so sure on the coil spring for the lift assist. The part I need to replace is part #368 in the attached picture.

Ok seriously, I do a ton of repairs myself so I went into this knowing it wasn’t going to be a piece of cake. It really wasn’t all that bad but my recommendation is to get a new set of bearings and the bottom collar as well. My bearings were corroded and the bottom collar was cracked as well.

I had the spring in a rats nest at one point! doah I managed to get it cooled back up and back into place. With a little patience it really isn’t a problem.

Let me know if you want more guidance. I’ll shoot you my phone number and I can talk you through it.

Yikes. I really appreciate the feedback. I’m actually leaning towards just taking it in to a service center after seeing that. The motor is only 2 months old so it should be under warranty anyways. I just figured if it was fairly simple I’d take care of it myself. The part is cheap enough. I don’t want to mess it up worse than it is. Ha. Thanks again though.

Under warranty? You couldn’t pay me to open that thing up. Definitely take it to an authorized repair shop.

I’m not sure where you’re located but I’d recommend Action’s Fishing in Anoka. Jack will take care if you.

Take it to Actions. Had my Ulterra repaired there under warranty. Had it back the next day. Awesome service.
