Terrova 80# Issues

I have an 80# Terrova hooked up to a 24V Li battery. Past year it has operated fine. Now, it shuts off when trolling at speeds below the 5 speed setting. I can spotlock and it holds at speeds lower, but with the prop at 5 or below moving directionally, it will stall out. If I bump it up above 5, perfectly normal operation.

The operation above 5 tells me it is not breaking the circuit. Would the Control board be suspect?

    Thanks,

Sounds like a board issue, give Fishelectronics a call, they’ve seen it all…

I will throw my $.02 in. It could be the board, but that sounds to me like your brushes are worn if the motor has issues at lower speeds, but still works at higher speeds. I will second fishlectronics. They fixed my POS ulterra I think 4 times all for different issues.

The guys at fishlectronics are great. Mine was a bad lower unit, it would blow the breaker, with mine you could feel it was bad by just turning the prop, it had more than normal resistance.

Thanks guys, I plan on calling Fish-lectronics and seeing what they can do. I took apart the Terrova and tested the nodes with the voltmeter, looked normal. It functions semi-normal, I just have higher standards for that piece of junk that’s only a year old. Go Motorguide!

Issues after just 1 year sucks (and probably just out of warranty?) I’m going on year 11 of my Terrova 80, I had the rubber gasket go bad in the lower unit a few years ago that let water get in (pretty common for older trolling motors) but other than that its been a solid trolling motor…
