Little brother was at the farm this weekend and corn beans and buckwheat are all popping up. Now the temp is going to be low 30’s for a couple days ( This will be a real test for all the crops, but I very highly doubt the buckwheat will survive these temps. Ma nature can be a cruel one at times. Just glad I don’t make my living at farming.

I wish I was far enough along that I had anything planted. Clearing new ground is a slow, slow process and I haven’t been able to devote the time to it that I’d like.

Hopefully you dodged the bullet. I didn’t hear of really widespread frost reports, so hopefully you stayed on the + side of 32.

It was 34 plus for the last 2 nights so I am hoping we are ok.

I hear ya on the clearing land taking time. I have a work in progress new plot at the farm that has a wet area in the middle. I thought I had a pretty good start on it until the rains last week. This is what it looks like now

Dad said it stayed above freezing at our place but friends just south had pics on FB showing hard frost in their yards. I agree, thankfully what we do is for fun.

Totally agree, good perspective. It’s a hell of a lot more serious when it’s a few $100k of your livelihood out there potentially freezing.

Plus, the good news with food plots is you can almost always replant or go to plan B and plant something different. A lot of food plot stuff is very fast growing so even if a late-late frost wiped things out, you can generally get something else growing.
