Tekota 500LC or 600LC for Sufix 832 Advanced Lead Core?

Looking at running various runs of Sufix 832 Advanced Lead Core 18# test on a Shimano Tekota LC reel. Depending on time of season and where the fish are in the water column I could be running 3 colours, and in some instances, as much as 10 colours.

I’m stuck between the Tekota 500LC and 600LC.

In some instances I could be running 10 colours of the Sufix 832 Advanced Lead Core, with hopes of a min 30 yard long 30lb test Power Pro braid backing and 20′ long 17-20lb test Sufix fluorocarbon leader. Has anyone attempted this scenario on a Tekota 500LC?

    Thanks!

I think the 500 will come up short. I have both. I prefer the size of the 500 for Erie walleye, but I also keep a pair of 600 for the long stuff. At the end of the day the 600 is a great all around reel. I don’t run line counters for leadcore. I use some old Daiwa 47sealines that always do the trick. The lead determines the depth, so I never saw the point. I also usually run 6 colors and add snap weights to get more. I just don’t like having the long stuff out there when the traffic gets heavy. YMMV, always love to learn new stuff!

IMO, the lead core will start to belly out after about 6 colors and not get you much if any deeper with additional colors out. Jarrod’s approach would also be my way of thinking.
