Just listened to this podcast, and thought many of you may enjoy it. They go over a lot of different hunting issues that you’d expect like CWD, recruitment etc. Also, thought it was very interesting at the end Nugent said they looked at the voting rolls in 2016 and found over half of the hunting license buying public had never registered to vote. Not really interested in a debate of the personalities, as Ted was his typical over the top self, but the topics were interesting. Should be available on any of your preferred podcast platforms.

Good ol Ted. High on back straps!! And the mystical flight of the arrow!!
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22539April 7, 2022 at 1:49 pm #2114670I really enjoy Steven Rinella and the show Meateater. Watch it all the time. He is about the most genuine of any of the outdoor personalities and he isnt always cramming product down your throat. Might have to check out the podcasts, havent listed to any before.
ThunderLund78Posts: 2516April 7, 2022 at 3:13 pm #2114691The podcast is outstanding, hugely entertaining and very educational. They key is the conservation focus, not the trophy focus. And otherwise they’re just good, very normal dudes sitting around BSing about hunting, fishing and life.
I’m 1/3rd of the way through the Nugent one and looking forward to resuming it. Usually I listen while I take an hour walk. Weather has been bad the last three days so haven’t got to continue it. If I listen while I work, I lose focus because it’s too engaging of content.
Loved the story about Cal’s teacher and Ted’s response to it. Saw Ted perform for free about 16 years ago during Twin Cities Ribfest on Harriet Island. Awesome show!

mark MasonPosts: 109April 8, 2022 at 9:57 am #2114824Is the podcast different than the show on Netflix? I really like the TV show but there are only 3 seasons available and far too few episodes.

There are multiple podcasts in the network. Meateater itself doesn’t really have a fixed topic other than being generally outdoors related. Wired to Hunt is deer hunting, Closing the Distance is western hunting, Bent is fishing, and Bear Grease is history/interviews of various topics.

This made me LOL! He definitely pushes his fair share of products.

On the podcast or tv show? There are commercials for sure on the tv show, but I dont see him advertising this scent killer, line of boots, trail cameras or insert other products here during the actual episodes.
ThunderLund78Posts: 2516April 8, 2022 at 12:14 pm #2114879And you don’t need to stream or pay for streaming if you want to listen to the podcast, it’s available on themeateater.com for free. New episode every Monday.
April 8, 2022 at 1:25 pm #2114908Fantastic listen. The Nuge is an icon. Love or hate the guy, he’s living life to the fullest and isn’t afraid to give you his opinion. Nothing like getting high on prosperous hunts.

The show is a constant promo for First Lite, etc. Every person he has on gets decked out in FL. It’s subtle and not in your face like other shows, but it’s in there and definitely being pushed.

They only needed viagra because the alcohol wasn’t getting the job done anymore.
The ads on Meateater aren’t as bad as the ones on Relentless Pursuit with Tim Wells.
I am not sure how Rinella and Doug Duren from SW Wisconsin met but there were a couple shows filmed there
