As James stated in the intro of last week’s show the guys didn’t know exactly where they were headed but he did promise they’d find ice somewhere. “Somewhere” ended up being west all the way to the Montana / Idaho border where James and Andy Fiolka found 3″ – 5″ of good ice.

Here’s some shots they took. I’ve been told the fishing was ridiculously good and Sunday’s show will live up to IDO’s commitment to cover new bodies of water and unique bites during the filming of Season 10. waytogo

Good for you, just couldn’t watch another northern show! I understand why you did it but my mindset has left open water. I think it would be neat to do a show featuring all the new gimmick products that get invented in garages. Slush Copter was like that a few years ago. I have to have one of everything so it’s fun to see what some small guys come up with.

That last picture is spectacular. I might have to use it as my wallpaper.

cool pics, half of fishing is the chase, and those pictures show that the chase was well worth it.

    I’m jealous.

It was a great way to start off the ice season. I think Andy caught a couple dozen fish in the 3 – 4.5 lb ranges in one hole (the one in the photo above) without ever switching holes. That’s some mighty good fishing!

Man, I wish. As someone that has never broke the 2# mark I’d love to see a 3# bluegill.

Maybe if Lake Havasu in Arizon ever freezes we’ll be able to make that a reality. The “sunnie” in the attached photo went 5.8# so there’s an outside chance. whistling Of course if Lake Havasu freezes…. we might have bigger problems to deal with.

    Trout?

Yeah, big cutthroat, cutbows and brookies. The cutbows get the biggest (lake record is 14#) and are really something else through the ice!

James,Twice last year. Heading over this weekend and meeting up with close to fifteen other anglers from Idaho, Utah and surrounding states. It is a blast! I sure wish that I knew you were over there, just to shake your hand Sir. You are always welcome in Wyoming and have a place to stay while here. If you ever want to do Flaming Gorge or some great lakes near Yellowstone, give me a buzz. I am Ten minutes from Bighorn Lake in NW Wyoming.(world class fishery) As an ice fisherman, I feel indebted to you and would love to help you guys out in any way. Again, keep up the great work! Joe

Zip dog, Load up on paddle bugs and dark tungsten jigs. Grab a Jaw Jacker too. Pk predator in pink is my go to lure. If it gets really tough, we put a little Travis Tritt on the radio and it turns into Emeril live fishing channel. Boom, another notch!!! See you FRIDAY!

Flaming Gorge = The Fattest Lakers on the Planet. grin Who wouldn’t want to fish that lake. I honestly don’t know beans about Bighorn… but I do know how to google so I’ll be checking that one out later in the day. Shoot me an email at [email protected] We have plans to come back yet this winter (love it out there) and would greatly appreciate some local eyes to help with conditions before hopping in the truck for a 20 hour drive.

If the fish activity level is anywhere near where it was when we were out… you’re in for a treat.

Andy and I fished set lines with jigs and meat (larvae / waxies) on the majority of our lines while we each worked a jigging spoon tipped with larvae on jigging rods. Both presentations caught fish. We had local anglers fishing in the same area so we were able to watch them and see that the set lines they were fishing were also catching fish.

We did best jigging 1/8 oz Tingler spoons with a gold blank. I did catch some fish on a silver blank but that gold color was definitely a better producer. I feel the best thing to share is you will likely be able to catch fish using your preferred method. Those trout BE CRAZY! We did however seem to catch far more fish jigging than we did on set lines. Those schools of trout would come through and hammer just about anything that was moving as long as it was the right shape and color!

Please let us know how you did when you get back.

James I really appreciate the info! I love fishing for trout with spoons and as luck would have it I bought a few of those exact tingler spoons! I also wish I could have met you guys, would have been a cool experience to see the who show production. Really appreciate what you guys do. Even if I catch one it will be a successful trip for me having never fished it.
