IDO roundtable….I’ve been thinking about purchasing a muzzleloader for a while. Looking at the TC impact. Anyone have any reviews or advice on how to set it up? I would be using it during the MN muzzy season, so will not be using a scope.

i dont have a TC Impact, but welcome to the world of ML =D

i like peeps sight in the rear and if you have a faster twist rate i believe its recommended heavier bullets like 295+gr.

i have an Optima, i use a 300gr hornaday followed by two 50gr 777 pellets.

they are so dang fun to shoot, you might not want to go back to a reg firearm ever!!!

I have an Impact and love it. Easy shooting, easy to maintain. I’ve found that mine likes bullets of at least 250 grains but my accurate load is using a 300 grain, .44 caliber XTP bullet…..a little longer and more stable.

The hi glow fiber sights that come on the gun are sufficient and easy to adjust. A peep at some time down the road may get better results for you, maybe not. I’d hunt the gun as is this year but be sure to find a decent load before you hit the woods. I’d look to get good at up to 75 yards.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Blackhorn 209 powder. I just switch this year from 777 and it is awesome. You use regular gun solvents to clean. While testing I shot 10 shots without cleaning. I had my gum cleaned in minutes. If it was another brand it would have been at least a 20 minute job.

I’m a big fan of Thompson center
I have a triumph and love it.
My cousins and uncles have the impact and love them. The best bullets we have found to shoot it the Thompson center cheap shots about 4.95 for I think 12 shots and they are all lead with a casing but they are deadly and draw a ton of blood. Seem to push down the barrel very smoothly as well. I’ll shoot 10 times or so before I clean the gun.
