Taxidermy Question

I have heard that taxidermists won’t do certain ducks at certain time of the season because of the thickness of the skin. Is there any truth to that? I was hoping to mount a wood duck for my son if he shoots one in the next few weeks. MN youth hunt is in the morning.

Scott Miller in Prescott would be a quality taxidermist to ask

I don’t think its about skin thickness
more so when they have pin feathers
they tend to fall out easily

I would check out jerry at flyway taxidermy in sartell, mn. His awards speak for themselves. Chech him out you won’t be disappointed.

This is the same thing that I have heard. If its not a mature bird then the pin feathers fall out during the process and you end up with bald spots on the bird which looks bad. I’ve gotten 2 woody’s on my wall and both them were from the beginning of the season which isn’t that far away.
