    Well that didn’t take long:

“On Monday, Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum wrote in a post on X that following a “good conversation” with Trump, Mexico will reinforce its border with 10,000 members of the National Guard to prevent drug trafficking into the US.

As a result, Sheinbam wrote that the US would pause tariffs for one month.”

What does a tariff do ? Will it lower the price of goods ? No it will not! People have short memories anyone recall the soybean trade war with China trump initiated ? That cost US taxpayers 28 billion dollars ! We lost ! China said fine we will deal with other countries then ! They did and we were left holding the empty bag ! Trump ran on getting cost down ? Nothing he has done yet is doing that ? He is spending money sure enough , 10 grand a pop just to find an undocumented laborer ! Stock market plunges on news of tariffs ? He promised the land of milk and honey . Now he says it will be painful ?? Will voters knuckle under and accept his concept that things will have to get worse before they get better ? He inherited a stock market that was at an all time high! Let’s not forget trump emphatically stated the stock market would crash if Biden was elected LOL It ended at an ALL TIME HIGH under Biden /Harris But he has a concept ??? Guess his words are not to be taken seriously ? Like when asked how he would get skyrocketing rent under control ? His answer quote “Drill baby drill ” WTF ?? Denial is not a river in Egypt !

Its pretty interesting and this is an ever evolving discussion. I just read that the tariffs on Mexico are paused for a month after the Mexican leader has agreed to send troops to the border to crack down on drug trafficking.

And the markets are responding. Huh, interesting indeed…

Nothing much more that a negotiating starting point really.

Mexico agrees to deploy 10,000 troops to US border in exchange for tariff pause

10 grand a pop just to find an undocumented laborer !

10 grand to get violent criminals out of our country is well worth it. That is who ICE is targeting.

Since we have gotten into the taxation rabbit hole. Has anyone been watching what Elon and DOGE have put out over the weekend in regards to USAaid?

The amount of money and corruption is insane.

Mike Benz has been putting out great info on USAaid for over a year. He is definitely someone to follow what he has been putting out.

    I have.

While I am not very familiar with this agency, simply eliminating it is not the route to go. It’s also illegal because elimination of any agency must be approved by Congress. It will end up in court.

The stuff I am reading about USAID is really eye popping. I honestly had never even heard of it, but big surprise there is waste and corruption. Zelensky just gave an interview and mentioned they have only received a small fraction of the money/aid that Biden promised them. Wonder where that went?
Ask yourself this question. What country taxes their citizens and then sends money to the united states?

It sure may, but it will give them enough time to dig really deep into how corrupt it is.

I’m not against rooting out the corruption. Totally agree with doing that. But let’s do it methodically and legally. If Congress sees the issues with it, reform will occur. Simply eliminating an agency on a whim does not lie with the executive branch. It has to be done legislatively.

Sending all these issues to court is very expensive. Lawyers and court fees fall on us, the taxpayers.

If funding is cut the damage can stop. The republicans control the house. Since they do control the house they control purse strings.
I don’t think we will see USAaid totally wiped out but then if there are some convictions things could change. Time will tell.

The guy has been in office 2 weeks today. How fast do you want to see a change. Some of the things he ran on have already started to happen, other may take some time. Will I accept that things may get worse before better – I sure will. What we had prior was bad with nothing but more bad on the way. I can at least see some light at the end of the tunnel. As far as the Market goes. It had been artificially stimulated for far to long. That will only work for so long. A market correction is way overdue

Many valid points – some more lucid than others.

Guy’s been in office for two weeks. TIME WILL TELL
His last effort was pretty dang good – honestly if I were him i Would be spending my time getting a pound of flesh out of these a- holes. How about a commission to examine Biden’s mental capacity and find out just WHO has been pulling the levers the last 4 years. GOOD FOR HIM BEING THE BIGGER PERSON

You have already seen him deliver on promises. $10K to send illegals back? – They SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN HERE in the first place! What did it cost to fly them here, pay their cell bills, pay their housing, food, insurance? WHY? We have never had that explained…………
Biden selling off wall parts for 5 cents on the dollar knowing what we paid for it?!?!
Root out corruption in Federal offices?! AMEN
Make people work in the office and be accountable?! AMEN
Anyone who runs a business should be applauding his efforts.
He has been TRANSPARENT as hell the last two weeks. A welcome change.

As I said earlier – the TARIFFS are a club. How long and how hard he wields it will depend on results he has promised us and those of you who expect them in 2 weeks are just gonna have to live w that reality.
This is what Trumps mission is – to fix that for the country.
I believe him at his core and pray that I am right. If you feel I am naive’ as hell, okay. But, it’s all about the power and the dollar when the sun sets.

Yes, but any legislation also has to pass the Senate and its filibuster.

If the funding needs to be cut, and the agency itself is to dissolve, it has to pass both chambers and then be signed by the president. Right now it seems that the legislative branch is a moot point and therefore, unconstitutional.

Again, I’m for rooting out the corruption or abuse that may exist, but shutting it down on a Saturday night is not how you go about these things in a legal manner. Congress has to do their job too and there is a process that has to be followed.

What if all the sudden he decided he wanted to dissolve or eliminate the Social Security Administration or the FAA? Do you see where I’m going here?

The 3 big ETF’s in my portfolio are down an average of .59% for the day so far.
Since I dollar cost average I think I will buy when i start to see it bounce back up. Which could be tomorrow or next week or next month. I will take advantage of the dip.

I have been hearing they are talking about extending the tax cuts as well as federal spending cuts through reconciliation. If they do this there is no senate filibuster and does not need the presidents signature either. Problem is it’s not forever.

we have all had to fix something that someone else has screwed up, sometimes it’s better to do a complete tear out and start over and do it right. everyone complains that the government doesn’t do anything, now something is getting done, they complain about that too.

It’s too early to tell what will/won’t happen with regard to tariffs. I don’t forsee them bringing about some huge major change to my day to day life, other than possibly pushing the prices for some goods even higher.

Things I agree with: Securing our borders, at least not completely burying our heads in the sand to things like fentanyl in our country

Things I disagree with: Thinking that tariffs will do anything to change a social issue – the demand for drugs is absurd and that’s the issue. We aren’t going to save people from fentanyl by taxing another country’s goods. The tariffs are moreso put in place to build a pot of income to help with some of Trump’s goals. As Rand Paul said…a tariff is nothing more than a tax. Period.

tariffs can be change at a stroke of a pen, they’re really nothing more than leverage tool to balance trade or policies at this point.
