I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on targeting walleye on early ice. This is only my second year ice fishing as I’m originally from TN. I’ve been up to Red lake a few times last year and again last weekend and I’ve always caught fish but I really want to learn to target them on some of the other lakes. What depths do people target for early ice? Is there particular structure that holds better than others? Red is basically a big bowl so there’s no real structure to target. I would really appreciate anyones insight. Thanks everyone!

Shoreline breaks, points weed lines, all relative to the individual lake.

Watch a lot of IDO videos. James and the gang do a nice job of explaining where to fish and how to fish for walleyes.

‘James & the gang’ always go to lakes with great #s of fish. When you went to Red you also went to a lake with great numbers. That is what you want to start with.
