Looking at installing a talon on our pontoon, is there a way to manually retract if theres a issue? does one have advantage over the other one power pole vs. talon. it will be used mostly for beach anchoring, it seems the talon has alot better reviews online? looking for thoughts. thanks

I have a 12 foot talon. It has never failed. There is a manual way to retract it should it fail. It relies on battery power so as long as you have adequate battery power it should not be an issue. They now make one in a 15 foot model too.

The power poles do what they are supposed to from what I’ve seen as well but they deploy more like a crab leg rather than a straight vertical deployment of the talon. I have fished out of freshwater and saltwater boats with power poles and never saw an issue. They do require some space for the hydraulic pumps to operate, however.

perfect, i have room for pump as it would be going on pontoon, looking at 15′ model,as it would work for 90% of spots i would fish. thanks for the input!

Are you referring to the talon or pole? The deepest model power pole I think is 10 feet which will also require a pump. The talon goes to 15 and will not require a pump, it is battery powered.

talon has no pump, only the power pole is what i understand. so i guess that makes that question easy!
