While on vacation for a couple weeks I managed to stop by a shop/bait-crafting studio In California and was treated to some serious, serious bass style eye candy. This mom and pop duo put together some super nice tackle and offer it over the internet at very reasonable prices in spite of being custom make.

Denny and Rosemary Welch make quite the team. Denny is in charge of casting the jigs and injecting all of the plastic baits while Rosemary takes hold of the airbrush and powder painting operations. Rosemary’s talent with an airbrush on a hard bait is outstanding and is reflected in the pain jobs she puts on those spinnerbait heads and bass jigs.

If anyone tries the stick bait (senko) let us know how they are

The Senko baits Denny makes are done using a Do-It cnc mold. Gary Yamamoto and Do-It have an agreement allowing Do-It to have the mold making an identical baits in physical shape. Where “senko” appears on the side of the Senko, Do-It shows on the custom made version.

Like the original Senko Denny uses salt to add weight to the baits. The two baits are near identical in weight. Denny can use a non-salt high density silica to weight the baits upon request too.

To take it a step further, Denny does an excellent job of color matching if a personal favorite color that is not being made is desired. This applies to any of Believe Baits broad range of soft plastic baits.

One of the Senko’s downfalls is bait durability. The plastic that Denny uses in his creations has a measure or durability well beyond the original bait’s. The plastic is quite elastic as well and the plastic still offers a softer finished bait than the original.

The company is California based so be mindful of time differences when telephoning or waiting on message responses, but do feel free to contact them with questions. They’re good people.
Denny welcomes any contact to answer questions. He’s easy to work with and strives to keep his customers happy. Calls, e-mails, he welcomes them all.
