A couple weeks ago Steve and Vicky Houg of Grand Rapids hooked into a double for their first Lake Sturgeon. What a great way to get on the board!!
Steve’s fish happened to be tagged as well. Here’s the info.
“Lake Sturgeon 29984 was reported as 45 inches long with a 15 inch girth, caught on 10/10/14 in 35 FOW.
This is not the first time this fish was caught, but I am entering a note to name it “Esmeralda” (edit: per angler request).
We first caught and tagged that fish on 5/19/06 just south of the boat ramp at Franconia. At the time that fish was 38.62 inches long with a 13.11 inch girth and weighed 10.7 pounds.”
It was caught and reported by an angler, at the same location you guys reported, on 10/3/07. That angler measured the fish as 40 inches long and it weighed 11 pounds.
In 8 years this sturgeon grew 6.5″.
