This morning I punched my second and final tag. I shot this bird at 915 after the hens had left him to nest.
My original plan was to set up on this oak flat with blind and bow the birds work all the time and roost off of. I ended up getting there late because of an accident. So I grabbed the gun and decoys and set up in this open grassy area. Plan B worked out well as the hens left he started gobbling none stop and he strutted right in on a string.
Wish I would have brought the blind and bow as I shot him at 15 yards just b4 he got to the decoys.
Decent 2 yr old bird 10″ thin beard 1″ spurns and 18 lbs.
Now it’s time to start hunting birds in NY. Headed up Thursday night for three days.
