On Black Friday (11/28/14) my fishing partner Ryan and I took to the ice in Central Minnesota in search of some nice sized Crappies. We spent a good portion of the early afternoon chasing a roaming school of Crappies. We would catch 1-2 nice ones and then have to move holes with the fish. This all changed when we found ourselves on top of a massive school of nice quality Crappies. We didn’t want to spook them by punching another hole so we team fished out of the same hole for over 45 minutes.

Good Times! looks like you had the lake to yourselves.

Sweet!!!did you say 45 ft suspended

They were in the deep basin which was 45fow and the school was suspended around 35-25fow.

Good Times! looks like you had the lake to yourselves.

We basically did, there were 2 other shacks out there that day and one was moving often. Most likely chasing around a different school.

That’s a great way to take advantage of a tight school of crappies, and about all you can do with out risk of spooking them. Nice video with some great tips, it looks like you had a blast!

I couldn’t find nearly as many aggressive or large fish on a different body of water this weekend. I wish every outing was like the one in the video -)
