Tabs on 2018 WX2190

Well, I find out what my bonus is going to be on Monday! So it is time to put on a set of tabs on the ole Skeeter. Is the factory set up the best, or would a different size be better. Also, on a slightly different angle, I run a group 31 starter battery, and have 0 issues with running out of power. I have 2-HDS 9 & 1-HDS 12, Ulterra TM, troll control for the kicker, livewells, and a stealth charger. Do I need to go to a couple of, say group 27 or 29 starter batteries? I think there is room in the floor if I move TM batteries forward and play with placement of the smaller batteries. Interested to hear your opinions.

I have a 2018 WX2190 as well, so I’ll be interested in what you decide…installation…clearances…transom strap routing…and of course performance once you get it out on the water!

Went with a Lenco 9×12 combination on my new Skeeter WX2200, instead of the factory 4×12. Was more expensive than the factory combination, due to the fact that they do not make a kit in the combination that I wanted, and because of that we had to order every piece individually. My plates do not have the rolled up edge, but slightly flared. They were a little nervous about it having enough kicker motor clearance, but it fit fine. No real right or wrong answer on what tabs to go with, other than you want to go with one form or another of tab. I wanted to go with Bennett tabs, due to their programable switch plate, but they do not offer the limited space actuator that Lenco does, and that was needed on my Skeeter setup, as one of the actuators mounting position is in the center of the kicker setback plate. Test rode the WX2060, and the WX2200, both with factory tabs, and they both worked fine, I was just familiar with a larger tab plate, and its benefits, from a past bay boat that I had, and wanted to go that way. While I have already seen most everything mounted except the locators, I didn’t take any pictures for show, as things are a little messy while everything is getting mounted. I’ll have some pictures of the boat next week, as it is all finished now, and they are waiting for me to come and inspect it, and possibly pick up.

I’ve got the factory tabs on a 2060 and they work great. I don’t think I’ve ever run them more than maybe 3/4 of the way down even in real nasty stuff.

All of them work great, my observation in running all of them is the larger tab is a bit more forgiving and easier to run as you are learning new rough water.

I run the PowrTran Pro Tabs on my wx2060. I went with 9×9 tabs and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Even with no setback on my kicker I still have plenty of room on my transom. I do have to move my straps. But I would believe on a 2190 or 2200, you shouldn’t have to worry about space with 9×9’s.

The joystick is awesome and very easy as I don’t have to control two different buttons. I push the joystick in the direction I want the boat to control to. Auto up, quality product and the customer service with any questions has been unbelievable.

Sorry guys been under the weather, and away from computer. I have decided to do them, but going to wait until summer. My Mo in the past on projects is to wait until just before open water to do them. Then I stress out until I pick up boat. Not this year! Ryan you coming down for the beat down? It should be a scream. We are going to messing with so many squirts later year it is going to be crazy. 2018 spawn/hatch completely blew away the 2003 and that had been biggest one that had been recorded. Bodes well for the future of the lake.

I am in! We have the last weekend of March on the calendar to take a 3 day trip down if weather allows. Otherwise the usual 2nd week of May is already scheduled.

Would like to take a ride with the trim tabs. I will have the new WX2200 around July. So the 2060 will be for sale soon!

Just a heads up, if anyone is looking for trim tabs and goes with PowrTran Pro Tabs use the code CBM10 to get 10% off your PowrTran order.

    Jerry, both are factors….
First off what motor hole is being used now?
    Prop?

Start with these 2 and then Tabs are beneficial for extreme rough water.

What water do you fish primarily?

These are Bennet trim tabs. I went with the largest I could fit the given space. 10″ x 12″

Jerry, I would drop the motor all the way with that water & Tabs will be a godsend for you !!!!! Speaking from experience on the same water !

Dean thanks for the info. What tabs do you have experience with? and what kind of price for install do you think i’m looking at?
