    Super K or Brovarney? I know I have a preference, but I can’t recall which I like better. )

It might sound cheezy but out of the many swim jigs I have tested, I like the BPS KVD Swim Jig the best.

1/4 oz or 3/8 oz in most applications

3/8 oz or 1/2 oz Heavy Cover Version (mostly for the brush guard) in pads or reeds

    I take the rattles off.

I seem to lose less fish with them. Meaning less fish come unbutton for me. There are ones that look better and are more durable, but I always seem to come back to them.

I’ll throw another name in the list. RC tackle. By far the best hook and paint finish I’ve found. They track real well and have a trailer keeper that keeps the trailer from sliding down as much a others I’ve fished. They offer a wide range of color choices as well.

Good discussions, fellas. Those KVD jigs do look nice. They’re not cheap, though!

I ordered up some Lethal Weapon IIs. We’ll see what I think.

    RC Tackle.

I prefer a wire grub keeper as opposed to the molded lead keeper. Personal preference, I guess.

Really. I find the small wire Keeper tends to tear the grub or other trailer real easy and they tend to slide down rather easy after a few hard cast or hook sets. The ribbed design with the larger collar at the top seems to hold trailers in place much better and longer in my experience. Like you said Personal Preferences.

Yeah, that is an issue. You used to be able to get them for $3 on sale but after KVD went on that 3-4 year streak, everything with his name on it went up in price. Strike King has another version with the same skirts that you can find in non BPS stores as well that’s cheaper but it doesn’t have both plastic keepers.

I’ve been purchasing jigs from Gregg Kizewski – SuperK. I’ve described match the hatch conditions based on what I am seeing, and afterwards been presented with a great jig. For me, I’ve noticed an incredible attention to detail and consistency in the jigs he’s poured. Beyond that, Super K has donated hundreds of jigs to youth events that I have hosted, and given away guided fishing trips (several 4 hour guide trips) to youth raffles and fundraising events.

Finally, SuperK was the first company to ever consider me as a pro-staffer to represent their products many years ago when I was fishing a lot more. It’s been a great relationship over the years that resulted in some access to prototype colors to try.

I got my order of Lethal Weapon II jigs yesterday, and I can say that they look awesome. My one beef with the Super K jigs is how heavy of a hook he uses. The LW II uses a lighter hook, and it’s super sharp.

Glad you liked the finished product! They do catch a lot of fish. We use them fishing for big gators and the hooks stand up well!

I’m fairly new to swim jigs, but will be looking at warbaits this year. It’s a saltwater swim jig offering weights up to 2oz and hook sizes 8/0.

Will be adapting this to punch heavy weed cover for ski’s this year.

Seems to work for bass guys to punch through heavy weed mats. Figure by upsizing it and tossing a huge plastic on these jigs it’ll be a musky magnet too.

I like Lethal Weapons and Brovarneys. There are some other good ones including some called, “Yank Ems” or something like that….locally made. I also like the “Fatheads” but I can’t remember who makes them…either RC or Yamkem.

Man, I love swim jig chunking’! I always have two dedicated swim jig rods loaded and ready….one light, one dark.

Nice! In 2011 I caught a 42″ on pool 6 on May. It hit a 1/4 oz. Brovarney with a 5″ white Case grub right at the boat.

I have caught more fish on brovarney then anything else. Only downside is that I am always losing them to toothies as I never use a leader. There is an obviously solution, but I worry about not hooking as many fish if do put a leader on it.

I started using tieable wire made by Tyger Leader. I have not seen any noticeable difference in catch rate. I tie a uni knot with about an 18″ leader.

I’ll have to give these a try. I need a dark, bullhead colored bait. Dark with a light belly.
