Going to see him in NC with the Belle in September. It will be special because he’s from there.

Going to a Church concert in NC or at Red Rocks would be a bucket list trip for me. I’ve seen him at least a dozen times, and he always delivers a great show! Including the first time I saw him at like 3 in the afternoon at We Fest with about 250 people watching he ripped it up like he was a headliner…and the next year after Smoke a Little Smoke blew up, he was!

And on the OP his first major tour with Rascal Flatts he got kicked off the tour for playing too long and too loud, and was replaced by a young Taylor Swift. Church then followed the tour playing smaller clubs and honoring any of his fans that had the Rascal Flatts tickets to get into the smaller club show the same night as Flatts.

Ok, so maybe I did see him and just don’t remember grin ! Had a good run at we fest BW.

Wife said the swift show was best she has ever seen but still wish they would have tried to sell them. Guy I work with brother bought two nose bleed tickets for $150 each, sold them for $1800 a piece. That’s a hell of a return.

I can one up you there. First time on a random Wednesday night at the Cabooze maybe 25 people there. Elbows on the corner bar.
Second time Cabooze maybe 100 people.
Third Cabooze outside stage with nobody paying attention. It was like watching a local a high school band playing at the bowling alley. 4th minneapolis amphitheater got some drum sticks at that show. I have seen him on big stage now several times and he still plays like the first time at the Cabooze.
Not sure if he still plays with them but his original bass guitarist was from Minneapolis.
He was like a metal head type of musician back then. Head banging the whole show with a sweet mohawk.

That’s awesome! The reason we went to his afternoon We Fest show was due to a buddy that went to those Cabooze shows. His Outsiders album was fairly metal imo, and they regularly mix in Springsteen, Metallica and random other non-country songs.

Fwiw I’m not a TSwift fan. At all. But she writes and sings and by all accounts I’ve seen puts on an impressive 3+ hour show, which is respectable even if it’s souless pop music.

it was 2013 when Church headlined, so not sure if you were there or not. 2012 was the year he was playing in the afternoon, and also the year Toby Keith waited out the storm that destroyed every tent in the campgrounds and rocked until like 2 am.

What is metal to you guys ? Or what’s metal ? Now I don’t know ?
Never heard how metal Eric was besides my lady telling me how much metal I missed ?
Mitch lucker was and is metal. (Rip) Eric church was great music against standard country. But metal? Half of taylors songs are more metal then churches to be fair.

Swift is a woman who knows how to get paid. She knows her business model, knows her fan base, and knows how to market to them and give them what the want. If I had daughters I’d say you could do far worse for a role model.

Whenever the conversation comes up about how the price of concert tickets is “too high” it makes me shake my head. Too high for whom? I don’t see many empty seats out there at any big concert these days. Charging what the market will bear is a better way of describing it.

That might give her credit for creating more jobs than Biden! jester
