I have been talking about trying one of the Lake Michigan harbors for trout or salmon for a couple of years. I would like to give it shot in my boat. I have all the safety gear required and would pick my day. What I am wondering is whether there is someone with experience fishing in those harbors who wants to go along and help a newbie get started. I have never had my boat on Lake Michigan and have no clue about what harbors to consider. It sounds like it might be possible to jig or cast up some fish with the same gear we use for walleye and pike. If you can share any advice or are interested in getting out you can email me at [email protected] or send me a PM with your contact info and we can get in touch.

I’ve been wanting to that for some time now, this fall is just to busy with bear hunting. A friend of mine called and said the eyes were biting out there last week as well. Good luck and let us know how you do.

I have fished the Keewanee harbor using light tackle. We thru hot and tots and thundersticks and did well. Be ready for the forearms to burn! We stayed at the Coho motel which was nice, they have a freezer to keep your fish in also.
