    We launched at evert’s sat. 17th..About 1p.m.
We got got some ringee’s and some livebait and headed up to a spot i have caught fish in the past.
My brother was with, this was his first time fishn pool 4.It was only 20 minutes and he hooked up with nice fish, only problem was the fish came up and ran and rolled.. It was a large carp, maybe 10 lbs. I got the net ready and his line broke…
Forgot to respool with new line..Likely excuse!!
It wasn’t ten minutes and he was hooked up again, this time it was a nice walleye. SO, i got ready with the net and shazaam, his jig and ringee come out right over my shoulder. Man, was he mad! It looked like a 17-20″ walleye..
We stayed in this spot four a couple hours, with no more bite’s.We were marking all kinds of fish, they just did seem to want anything we threw atthem
WE drifted and a dragged, verticle jigged and even anchored for a while with fatheads hanging out all sides.
Is there something i was doing wrong?
I have fished here for two yrs. now and can’t seem to boat a lot of fish.I try all the color ringees that everyone says they are biting on, but not much luck..

We stayed till the sun went went down with no more bites.. I’m not ready to give up, i’m a die hard fisherman and quiting isn’t my thing!!!
    Help!!

If you’re confident about the area you’re fishing then it’s all about how you present your offering. Some days one technique will work like snap jigging then the next if you don’t hold your bait still 2 inches off the bottom they won’t touch it. If you are on a drift make sure that you are staying vertical. You are going to miss a lot of fish not knowing where your bait is at in respect to the bottom. If you are pitching go with the lightest jig you can as long as you know what it is doing under the water. I’m no expert but am finding that even though I thought I knew what finesse meant I was wrong. Think like a fish if you can and try to make it look as natural as possible. Don’t be afraid to move though. Even though you are marking them, the fish on your graph may not be the ones that are actively feeding. Unfortunately (or fortunately IMO since I like the challenge) there are so many dang variables to think about that you have to adjust. Maybe it will take a different presentation, maybe a different color, maybe a different bait, maybe a different area….or maybe they just aren’t biting which could also be the problem for you I will gaurantee that each outing you are on you will learn a bit more and eventually you’ll be putting them in the boat on every outing

Well it sounds like you did about the same as most this past weekend. Last weekend the fishing was slow for most all. They just dont seem to want to eat anything right now. I would guess this mostly because they are in transition because of the higher water and rapidly changing water temps. Things should get going here real soon. One good thing about it is its only going to get better.

I need to add too, read, read, read. So many guys on here have a lot to offer and will have tips in their reports that you can try on your next outing. IDA has so much information that it’s hard to get through it all. Read reports from 1, 2, or more years ago and you’ll learn even more to add to your arsenal. Great luck to you

Heck 0 for 1 ain’t that bad at all. It all depends on the day and your tactic.

I’ve been skunked twice this year, hmmm both days the DNR was doing a creel survey – I’ll blame it on them.

Last Friday I fished all morning with only one hook up whiel pitching ring worms. Then I picked up a friend and noon and it wasn’t but 5 minutes later and he had a nice sauger. Location, presentation, timing – it all matters.

    Good Luck!

SRS The bite has been off for almost everyone these last few days.We spent about 7hrs today with one little sauger a handfull of fat crappies and a dogfish. The water is warming up rapidly and the HOT bite is right around the corner.Just get out and fish and soon you will get on the bite that makes P4 the go to place for alot of folks. Dean will give you the honest scoop when you stop in.
