    Howler –

I fished Gull for the first time Thursday 8/15 – I was staying at Cragun’s with my wife who had a conference up there and I was ‘working remotely’ that day. Had some info that fish were being caught rigging chubs – redtails and creek chubs and cranking over deeper water. Dealt with several different fronts that day and was lightening off the water twice and waited until 8 AM for the lightening to stop so I could begin fishing. Ended up fishing only 5 hours for the entire day. Caught two walleyes – 25″ and 21″ – one with a redtail and one with a reef runner. Tower Bar near the south end yielded both of my fish but Cinosam bar and Bow Tie bar were both giving up fish according to what the two bait shops had to say. Lots of structure in the lake, many of the breaks going from 7-10′ straight into 40’+.

Have fun and good luck – I was impressed and would like to get back there later this fall, as that would be a blast.

Try this mesage board as several guides from the area post good info: http://fishingminnesota.com/cgi-bin/forums/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Brainerd+Area&number=18&DaysPrune=60
