I am going up to Rainy ( Canadian Side ) and may have an open seat. May 12-16th.

This is due to the late ice out and the opporunity for MONSTER PIKE. My schedule is open – so I am going.

You will need your own gear, RABC and Canadian License.

I have boat, truck, place to stay and know right where I will be fishing. This is heavy combat fishing in the back sloughs and rivers. Heavy line, plastics, jerk baits.

    No smokers or drunks.

From the people that I’ve met on IDO you may have better results posting this on a different site. Good luck.

Hold on, I would love to go. The Canadian side of rainy is my favorite place to fish.

One small thing. Do you think my fiance would mind? We’re getting married on May 18th. That should leave plenty of time to get the boat on the trailer and home in time, right?

My long time fishing partner is p*ssed at me for the wedding getting in the way of our June trip. He’s a lurker here and I’ll send him the link to see if he’s interested.

You must be a hoot to fish with, probably why you have an open seat to begin with.

I got agree with non smoking. If I was to take a trip of tranquility last thing I would want is a smelly smoker aboard. Blah!! Get the fact people you stink!!!

But what if the drunk only drank red wine and 30 yr scotch???

yeah nothing like the stench of a smoker in a wide open boat on a lake. i’m not sure how anybody is even letting anyone smoke outdoors anymore. appalling

His boat, his rules…Some people never cease to amaze me with the personal attacks on the forums.

Personally I don’t smoke, and have nothing against those that do. That said, I can’t stand when I can smell someone’s cigarette from the back of the boat or the guys that think it’s ok to throw their butts in the lake. That’s no better than leaving your trash on the ice.

Lastly, I wish I could go but have a baby due the end of May and doubt I could get the hall pass. My dad and his buddies will be up there on the annual houseboat trip, fishing is always good.

As a non smoker his request makes sense to me. Also, he did not say non drinker…it sounds like he just preferrs to share his boat with someone who doesn’t spend the entire time drunk or hung over. Wish I could take you up on this dog!

First of all thank you for the offer. I’d love to go but my wife’s out of town and my kids are to young to watch themselves.

I quit smoking about 10 years ago and only drink about a case of beer a year. I think it would be a fun trip. Maybe I can get my wife to change her vacation?

If you didn’t like his post why respond. I liked the comment “His boat his rules” I don’t smoke and have let buddies smoke in my old boats and guess what? Burns in the carpet in several spots and they still wonder why I don’t let them smoke in my newer boat now. And I also, prefer to be in a boat or have a conversation with someone who can have some fun without being all liquored up and can speak English without having to bleep out every other word because of their lack of verbs and adjectives. Believe it or not we still have a good time. Dog, thanks for your post and wish I could go. Maybe next time.
