Svens sleeves

Anyone use them? From the videos I’ve seen of them they seem pretty nice and have a nice tight flush fit with the safety covers. They only come in black and glow.

My plan was to get some white catch cover sleeves because I thought they would be easier to see in the hole in low light conditions. Anyone have and opinions black vs. white sleeves?

The Sven sleeve safety covers are clear which seems like might be easier to see in the hole vs. catch cover honeycomb covers

I like the glow. At night when you got to get up to take a leak, you can menuver to the door without turning lights on waking everyone else. I seen svens make a clear cover that has rattle reels mounted underneath them. Looks like a good idea especially if you have dogs in the house.

The first few attempts at Catch Cover looked almost identical to Svens clear covers. Catch Cover scraped the project because they don’t let enough air thru and your holes will freeze up. That’s why the honeycomb configuration that allow air flow and ice free holes under normal conditions.

I had the plexiglass ones with several holes in them, as posted above they froze up very easy. PITA

    Sven prefers no sleeves

The hole freezing over is a common question we do get about our sleeves. Obviously putting a cover over the hole does restrict air flow in your holes so we always recommend that users of our product put a small fan on the floor in the back and/or front of the house. This will circulate the air on the floor and actually create the air flow needed to keep your holes open. We have been on the lake for 4+ days at a time in subzero temps without ever cleaning out a hole.

Whether you sleeve or not, packing the sides under the house with ice and slush, using wheel shirts, banking/frame skirts, or sleeve insulators are additional steps that should be taken to reduce the cold air that gets under your house.

Our cover is the strongest in the market and has so far been tested up to approximately 700 pounds of weight without breaking or slipping out of the sleeve. Our covers are made of lexan and the sleeves are high density plastic, make it a very durable product. We are also the ONLY sleeve that universally fits both Catch Cover and Fish Hole Buddy floor rings with the use of our Accessory Clips if you have Fish Hole Buddy.

We sold three times more than we expected last year, and are expecting another big year this year as we have expanded into more dealerships as well as Cabelas and Runnings. A portion of each sleeve sold also goes to support Minnesota Band of Brothers Outdoors.

How long do the glove sleeves last before the glow stops?

We did a test last winter and still had some lamination after 12 hours. It does fade with time and can be recharged with any light or UV light for a quicker charge.

I am sorry to hear your thoughts. We have hundreds of satisfied customers and many that have switched from other brands.

Proper install, packing of the holes with snow, and banking are necessary with all sleeves. Use of floor fan helps significantly. We have been out 4 plus sub zero days and never had to clean out a hole.

Our cover is the only true flush offering in the market and the strongest available.

I mean, does the glow last for 5 years and then start to not work anymore?

I ended up getting catch covers and they are very wide open. However when it’s cold out and windy the holes will start to freeze over and that’s with the house always banked and with hole sleeves. With your covers that are mostly blocked off I can’t imagine how much worse they would freeze over.

And what do you mean only flush fitting on the market? Mine maybe stick up a 1/8” above the floor and it’s not a big deal to me coffee

Also I hear everybody saying how durable they are. Catch cover has a no questions asked lifetime warranty. I ended up breaking one last year and they sent me a new one 2 days latter no questions asked

Based on the material that we use our manufacturer said their should not be any loss over time. One other recommendation is to charge them in the sun before you go on the ice the first use each season, it seems to help active the glow sooner the rest of the season.

Using the floor fan solves the issue because it creates the air flow by the holes. We used one fan in our 22′ house last year it it kept all 8 holes open for the 4 plus days.

Our cover is the only cover that recesses flush to the top of the sleeve and only works with our sleeves.

We say most durable because you should have to worry about a cover breaking and causing an injury. The flushness elimates the tripping hazard other covers may have since they stick up from the floor. We have tested it up to about 700# so far without incident.

I wonder if you are referring to the Katz cover that does stick up from floor or sleeve depending on application.

No I have catch covers. They only stick up about 1/8” with the covers. I can’t see that being much of a trip hazzard. Running a floor fan sounds easy but there isn’t always a good spot to put a fan on the floor and that draws power from the batteries causing me to run a generator more often to charge them.

I think a insulated hole sleeve would help a lot if anyone makes one besides the hardkor brand that slip over the sleeve that are really expensive for what they are.

Do you by chance have a Lodge house? I believe they recess (router out floor) so the floor rings from the travel covers and wonder if that is why they only stick up 1/8″ when using. If I recall the actual cover they make is close to 1/2″ thick, which is what we used in our house prior.

I actually have a video on our you tube page and Facebook page showing the height difference.

The picture shows the height differences of the three covers in the market, ours is in the back.
