Thread on SV most informative. New to SI, and have a new Garmin awaiting installation. Have watched a number of Utubes, but looking for advice here on best location to mount transducer ,,, transom (150 HP and T8 on back) or on TM on bow? Will transom mount = some obstruction on SV from motor(s)? One advantage for me of TM mount is I can easily move unit between 2 boats …Disadvantage is would have to deploy TM all the time when scouting and trolling (when I usually use kicker) If transom mount, would need second transducer for second boat. Your thoughts/experience/advice appreciated.

    You’ve answered your own questions.

Generally SI transducers are partially blocked with the motor(s) trimmed down.

Trimming up a little usually cures the problem.

Guys that are truly looking for best performance run two SI transducers, one on each side of the boat.

I am very curious about this as well. I am looking at adding a SI unit to my boat but am unsure if its worth it on the trolling motor.

Trolling motor is always moving, at least in my boat it is. You’ll need to be really good at interpreting SI to do it when it is constantly turning. It is no different on the back of the boat, except when on the back of the boat the si is least impacted by minor boat adjustments.

Also. You got cable management to deal with on your trolling motor.
