A little off topic but I do believe I’ve had a very similar virus about 15 years ago. I recall an illness almost identical to what most people are reporting as symptoms. Fatigue, uncontrollable dry cough, fever, loss of taste and smell. This lasted about 4 weeks when I was in my mid 20s. Doctor called it a sinus infection. I remember it fondly because I came down with it on the winter trout opener.

What a coincidence? I had the same thing quite a few times through my life. Don’t recall the winter trout opener, so that may disqualify me?I always thought the flu. Good to know I may have had something and survived.

Actually I had something real similar this spring again. I’m blaming the flu again.

Has anyone actually gotten the flu this year?

I had influenza B in late january

Best friends Aunt got it. Gave it to her husband and my friend’s Grandpa (who lived with them). Grandpa died after about 10 days. 83 and some health concerns.

Wife’s cousins father in law got it and he also died from it. Early to mid 60s, no health issues that I know of but I could be wrong.

My daughter had when it was in the early stages.
My dad died from it. He fell in his house and broke his shoulder and spent nine weeks in a nursing home. The last two weeks he couldn’t even go to the dining room, meals were brought to his room. Between his last two weeks on lockdown and nobody being allowed at the hospital, he died alone.
    Very sad.

So we had a virus in the US 10 years ago that like the coronavirus killed 134,00 US citizens and 584,000 worldwide to date? I don’t think so. If so, what was it?

Well, coronaviruses are actually fairly common. This one is incredibly infectious, especially because it is transmitted while people are presymptomatic or possibly asymptomatic.

In case you’re willing to learn more about coronaviruses. https://peterattiamd.com/stanleyperlman/

I’m well aware that coronaviruses are common but SARS-CoV-2 is a new strain that causes COVID-19, a disease that hasn’t been seen before.

I don’t know anyone in my everyday circle that has tested positive. Not a single coworker at our hospital. I don’t mean anything by that, just stating.

I have a very good friend from HS that is a doctor in the Denver metro. She is 42, tested positive early on. Had some loss of taste and smell. perfect health.

Belletaine, sorry to hear about this.. Your not alone. this has happened to many and is very sad!! Just as you stated.

One of our drivers pulled his mom from the nursing home 2 weeks ago just for this reason. The family wanted her home at the farm for the last days and not allow the restrictions of this virus stop the family from coming to see her. Kids, grand kids and great grand kids are all visiting and I dont blame them.

I know of at least a dozen. Two of them ended in death one in his thirties. The others had symptoms that ranged from a slight cough to being on a ventilator and barely surviving. This group included cousins, two different neighbors, and one time co-workers. Eleven of the twelve had a JBS connection in Worthington and the other one was a death in a nursing home from covid. Definitely not something to take lightly.

First, thanks to all for staying civil and true to the OP’s original intent applause

One, Sister in laws dad. 70s and not sure about health. Don’t remember him being a smoker but possible. We used to have beers 15 years back before he moved to another state. Felt bad last week monday, confirmed positive last wednesday, ER on Friday, ICU on Sunday and upgraded to BiPap machine. Crossing fingers the trend reverses and he starts getting better.

I could be mistaken but wasn’t there a thread about one of the moderators that had it a month or two ago? Wasn’t it BK?

I came down to the cities to take my dad home and I really had to man handle him to get him in the truck. When I got home I started running a fever and my body completely voided itself. At the same time my wife lost her taste and smell. Right after we both felt better we got the news about dad having it, we got tested within an hour and were both negative.
    Who knows…

Sorry for your loss belletain. If you don’t mind me asking, how long was it before you felt better/got tested?

I thought there would be more “NOs”. I live in a county of 20,000 and NO ONE has died from it. We have had 12 positives and all recovered I believe. I had a cold earlier and it took longer than usual to recover from it, but I’m 75. I’m suspicious. There is no base-line data. How many usually get the flu? How many flu deaths every year. No standard criteria for “cause of death”. I believe every lung disease “cause of death” in a long term care facility is listed as Covid 19. I’ll bet that there are fewer “lung disease cause of death” this year than last because they are all listed as Covid 19 this year. I believe this Covid business originated with the news media or the federal government and I am old enough to be suspicious of the credibility of both sources.

I was in bed for almost four days with severe abdominal pain. It was about seven days from when I got sick til when I got tested. My daughter tested positive and felt fine physically but the anxiety was pretty bad. It was early on when she got and carried much more unknowns.

My dad had several health issues and probably wouldn’t have made through the year.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I don’t understand this thread as this op just can’t let things go,intentialy trying to stir things up until hears what he wants to hear.
As a truther I decline to answer the question as to be accused of being non truthful.
My guess he didn’t like the Facebook thing so he brings it here. Maybe its a Facebook thing to infect us all like virus.

I will be quicker to point out your agenda.🤑

Thanks for answering, could have been a false negative but a week after symptoms developing that would be rare from what I know about the testing windows. Who knows I guess

It is interesting to see how many people know someone who has it. When this thread started I expected to see a lot more no’s

There are probably a lot more nos, but not every no is going to post. I am sure nearly 100% of the yays will reply.

    I think that’s a pretty accurate statement. For me, it’s a no.

I don’t know anyone who has had it. But I don’t know anyone who has been tested though either. Fingers crossed

Back in March my wife was quite sick and had all the symptoms, fever, cough, totally drained, horrible body aches. Went to the Dr and since she didn’t fit the profile at the time where you HAD to have been out of the country, or HAD to be exposed to someone who had it…she was only tested for flu. Well the flu test was negative. Personally I think it was Covid. My daughter had a nagging cough for awhile, but my son and I have had no symptoms.

I feel for you guys. That is a heartbreaking way to lose a father. Being alone and not having loved ones visit has to be detrimental to fighting to get better as well.

Do we know each other ??? I must owe you a apology for something I did to you in this life or a past one. So here it is ” I’m sorry ” Not sure what for, but for what ever it is that I’ve done to you. You seem to have a problem with almost anything I say. I did not have any agenda that I was aware of when I started this post. I simply wanted to hear from others here what their experience was with this whole covid virus. I myself have not had any experience with it and don’t know of many who have.

Oh by the way Congrats on being a Truther. Not really sure what that is, But it sounds like something special.

You have a Great Weekend !!!
