Coming up to the big pond in 2 weeks and want to get a back up plan if we get blown off Mille lacs. Any surrounding lake with good fishing near Mille lacs that we could go to when it’s windy? We just love fishing and want to catch any species of fish. TIA.

Just go to the side of Mille lacs the wind is coming out of. That time of year there should be fishable water in just about any wind.

Borden is a lake near by….I haven’t fished but have a buddy that lives on it. Pretty good multi species lakes from what I have heard.

I would agree though….be willing to trailer around and you will find fishable water even with strong winds.

Supposedly there are a lot of great fishing lakes near Mille lacs. Definitely wouldn’t doubt it. Also don’t doubt many folks are probably pretty tight-lipped about it, though. Good luck on the pond!

Borden is know to have monster slab crappies swimming around plus you can pull up to the dock at the Birds Nest and have some of the best Broasted Chicken around.

That sounds good after a day of fishing

I have done pretty well on Borden Lake for largemouth bass when it was super windy on Mille Lacs.
