There not even #1 for worst fan base and violence. Chargers are #1 with 25 arrest per game. I think Eagles came in #10.

Sorry BigWerm and others, but your idea that all other stadiums and fans are duckies and bunnies is a view thru rose colored glasses. This happens at every stadium throughout the NFL and if you think otherwise your head is in the sand. I am not saying it’s right or even acceptable, but it happens everywhere. I would bet if the Vikes had won that game instead of getting crushed this would be a non issue. You all need to GET OVER IT! There is always next year, or the year after, or the one after that.
January 30, 2018 at 8:59 am #1748371This happens at every stadium throughout the NFL and if you think otherwise your head is in the sand.
I’ve been to 9 away Vikings games with a group of 20 and now 30 year old men, and we’ve never experienced anything remotely close to what’s going on in the video I posted. And I am over it, but will continue to call out anyone excusing it as “it happens everywhere” because it doesn’t in my experience.
January 30, 2018 at 9:35 am #1748386Just so we are on the same page here how many different stadiums/away games have you been to sticker? By my count BigWerm has been to 7 different cities/stadiums and 9 games. Surly with your superior knowledge of the situation your count should be much higher
January 30, 2018 at 9:51 am #1748402I just hope win or lose, Eagles fans burn Philly to the ground!
January 30, 2018 at 10:02 am #1748408Not just a NFL issue either. I’m a SF Giants fan and there are countless encounters of significant violence when they play the Dodgers, either at home or away.
pool2foolInactiveSt. Paul, MNPosts: 1709January 30, 2018 at 10:11 am #1748411P2F that game was in 2003, so maybe it wasn’t as well documented pre-social media or it wasn’t as bad then, but it still doesn’t make it acceptable. I’d be just as opposed to this behavior regardless of the outcome of the game.
I can’t speak to how stuff goes down in stadiums across the country, but I can say that this is nothing new in Philadelphia. It was happening in 2003, it’s been happening for decades.
I would never call it acceptable, but I’ve also never seen an opposing fanbase cry so long and hard about it.
If the Vikings hadn’t been thoroughly destroyed in that game you guys would have all moved on.
If it was Packers fans crying a week later about opposing fans you guys would be pointing out how pathetic they are.
January 30, 2018 at 10:37 am #1748427Whose crying? I’m rooting for a team this Sunday. I am hoping Philly burns.
January 30, 2018 at 10:52 am #1748433Seems like this shifted to some bad, violent, harassing behavior by some Philly fans. Some on here are trying to justify it or negate it with the argument “oh it happens everywhere.” Other non-Vikings fans are trying to pin it on sore and bitter Vikings fans, claiming these talks wouldn’t be happening if the Vikings had won.
For the record, even if the Vikings had won, I would still think that throwing blunt objects at children, punching horses, and gutlessly and flamboyishly insulting a 99-year-old fan are wrong, whether you’re from Philly, Minneapolis, Mankato, Tampa, etc.

Classic straw man argument. Nobody is saying that kind of stuff is “right.”
If so many altruistic, humble, virtuous Vikings fans objected so strongly to this kind of behavior then I would have expected to see outrage long before the 38-7 drubbing. Either folks are more butt-hurt than they’re willing to admit to themselves, or they’ve been living under a rock if they want to claim ignorance to the longstanding philly fan profile.

This is what society has come to… a 9 year old girl best stay away from a NFL playoff game, that is the answer… lest she might receive brain damage from an opposing teams “fan” hucking full beer cans ? No matter how you try to paint this one tbro, you are so far off to the real solution. Can this same little girl go to a Twins MLB playoff game… or is she in eminent danger there also ? If she cannot, please change your avatar to something less offensive to the kids.Your IQ must be no higher than 12. I am stating it’s unsafe for 9 year olds to be at playoff football games because things like this happen. Sure, maybe Philly is a bit worse than other places, but this kind of stuff happens at every prime time football game. Think of how many beers can be downed in a parking lot before a 7ish pm football game. I don’t support fights, I don’t support beer throwing, I don’t support drunken idiots ruining it for others. I’m just stating it’s not the best atmosphere for little kids. It’s a lot easier to remove the kids from those games than it is to remove the beer and the idiots. Take em to a week 4 game at Noon, or a baseball/basketball game. Can you understand that or should I spell it out a bit more for you?
You must not even register an IQ. You clearly do not get what big g is saying.
Please, enlighten me
Simply, what I am saying is that your answer to a 9 year old girl, to not get hit in the head with a full can of beer, is to stay away from an NFL playoff game…? That’s your solution ? Would you take your wife or girlfriend to an NFL playoff game… is she able to take the random projectile to the head and shake it off ? Should Millie, almost 100 years old, stay away too ? How many full cans of beer to the head can you withstand and still enjoy the game ? Only 18-39 year old male’s in the stands ?

FYI these forums are not the only form of expressing ones self. Just because it didn’t happen on the highly legit and unbiased forums of IDO does not mean it didn’t happen.
I feel the way I do but whatever, we can all agree to disagree. Hell it’s not against the law to take something positive out of it (as much as some on here love to breathe negativity 24/7). What I mean by that is quite a few posts ago someone talked about some pretty bad behavior at a Vikings game years ago and it bugged me quite a bit. As huge of MN sports fan as I am I hardly ever go to sporting events live mainly due to cost, people, and fishing, but after reading that story I personally plan on doing whatever I can to make others’ experiences better, whether it’s asking folks to stop or alerting the right people to do so.

That’s awesome and I hope it catches on. I’d be right there with you if I were to witness something like that. (For the record I’ve been to Pack-Vikes games at the Dome and TCF and was never mis-treated as a GB fan).
I’m not trying to paint anyone here as a jerk, either. But I’m tired of the wall-to-wall coverage on KFAN, local tv news, etc, about how awful the philly fans are. It paints Minnesotans — and I consider myself one having lived here and mostly loved it for 18 years — as whiners.

January 30, 2018 at 2:16 pm #1748521Again, well I think everyone agrees throwing beers at other people isn’t the nicest thing…it happens almost everywhere. Maybe it hasn’t happened to me or you…but also I have never been mugged either (dang it knock on wood) but I know people get mugged in every city across the US every day…people are people, drunk people are drunk people and idiots are idiots.
To your point of beer throwing. Its across all teams, all levels, and all sports that serve beer.
Just do a quick Youtube search. Fan throws beer at fan….
January 30, 2018 at 2:28 pm #1748526FWIW… I know the Vikings are not in playoff games every year, but I can never recall reading or hearing about Viking fans “should use extra caution when out and about” in another city with their Vikings gear on… like I did about Philly and Philly fans did not disappoint. A real cesspool they have there… I could careless about how stupid they act, but when a 9 year old girl cannot go to a game because of their stupidity, start picking up the trash, have some class as a city. Punching horses…. google that…you can’t make that poop up.
January 30, 2018 at 2:41 pm #1748528FWIW… I know the Vikings are not in playoff games every year,
WAIT, what?????
January 30, 2018 at 6:05 pm #1748567Simple solution. Ban all beer sales at all sporting events. Including tailgating in the parking lots. My guess is the safety of fans would take a back seat to our “right” to have a beer. I have never understood the need to go somewhere to drink. I hear about all the beer hauled into Canada yearly for the Canadian trips. Same with sports games. Geez, just stay home it’s cheaper anyway.
January 30, 2018 at 6:12 pm #1748570hey no need to reinstate prohibition…. yeah, you can stay home and watch the game on TV and down a few… but stay home and watch some other guy catch 300 walleyes and pike a day while drinking beer on the couch… nope. There are laws against throwing full beer cans at people, just enforce the existing laws, problem will diminish over time.
tim hurleyPosts: 5829January 30, 2018 at 6:33 pm #1748574Sticker if the Vikings had won the game the Eagles fans would have been worse. But as you said it would be a non issue, but not because we are being crybabies about the loss but because we are now forced to be the Minnesota nice hosts. What if someone you visited was rude to you (beyond rude) would you have that person over to your house and be nice to them? Again we should not sink to their level-but hey, I won’t watch it. BTW, Eagles will win.

fishingalldayPosts: 81January 30, 2018 at 6:56 pm #1748582Patriots 42-0 first time ever cheering for them. Eagles have great players and most are great role models (Chris Long, Carson Wentz) however there fan base is not deserving. Every fan base has its bums however this one takes it to a mob mentality. Before you say other teams fans are worse I ask you how many stadiums used to have a prison in it?

This kind of stuff ONLY happens in Philly cause that one guy has been to 7 different stadiums and he said so!!!!
And Big G, sorry for what I mentioned to you earlier. That was uncalled for and I apologize. I simply think its a preventable injury for anyone risking it to go to a football game, for adults the risk is worth it (clearly otherwise I wouldn’t be interested in going to big games). For a little kid that cant defend themselves, my opinion changes.
THOMAS FLAHERTYPosts: 8January 31, 2018 at 5:10 pm #1748828Boycott of the Super bowl needs to start somewhere. They may have agreed not to kneel but the league does it as a whole and to change something starts with you the individual. Not asking anyone else to follow but it does hurt them in the pocket with every drop in neilson ratings or direct TV stats. Vendors want viewers for there advertising dollars. You can always watch all of the commercials on youtube.

Just say to many Philadelphia fans came to Mille Lacs and kept over there limit of walleyes and “ruined” the lake. There you go ????!
