Fishing the river yesterday I was noticing a few trees with a hint of change.

I’m not stressing it. Fall is my favorite time of year. Kids and FW will be officially occupied with school 5 days a week which means I’ll get to start burning up vacation days on the water.

Had a guy start talking about the State fair last week. I told him to knock it off. We just went through 16 or 18 months of winter, and I don’t want summer to be over yet!

I noticed a few oaks were dropping acorns already this morning. Bring on fall!!

It sure is! I ran the backwaters yesterday up and down the river to check spots and changes! That spring and early summer flood really changed certain shallow areas of the backwaters. Some for good, some for bad. One slough in particular had a tree fall and silt in…I got the fever and the only cure is duck hunting…

I suspect it will be a slow change into fall like it always is. A touch of color in Aug that doesn’t really start to move until late Sept.

Fall and winter I’m ready for either one. Bow is ready and auger is ready.

my hunting season starts in less than a month!!

Can’t come soon enough! Been noticing leaves falling and very minor color changes in South East corner last week. I just hope fall is here for more than a couple weeks this year. My fishing season starts after labor day and ends at the first hint of 80 degree weather. CAN’T WAIT! Been hoarding PTO all year to blow it all real soon

Change of season is what we love about living up here, right? I can tell it’s almost mid-August by how my allergies are flaring up. Always makes me look forward to that first hard frost in October that kills all the ragweed and other offenders. Also, starting to run bear baits now for the 9/5 Wisco opener is another sign of change!
The next seasonal change will be evidenced by guys posting on here in early December about 2″ of ice here and 4″ there…
