Since I’m very new to Walleye fishing, I’m looking for some feedback from you experienced guys. Does Summer Walleye not taste as good as the Spring fish? I caught some Walleyes last week during a heat wave and I didn’t think that they tasted near as good as the early Spring fish. Water temp was 80 degrees and day highs were about 95. As beat as I was after those conditions, I bet I didn’t taste too good either.

I wouldn’t even want to go there. shock For certain any fish caught out of the coldest water possible is the best it can get. Think crappies through the ice, perch, bluegill, and yes walleyes pulled out of ice water. That’s as good as you’ll ever get it! After the catch, did you put them on ice right away? Floating in a live well at 80 degrees hurt more than it helped. There are many variables in the cleaning, preparation, and cooking process. And then if you were sweating over your finished product, that would pretty much funk it enough to feeding it to the cat. jester
