Fished Roosevelt Thursday night. Off shore bite was nonexistent. Docks were pretty good. Hot and calm. Deeper water out in front of the dock was better.

Were you catching them on stick baits Fryer?

I skipped mostly GrandeBass Airtails Neko style and a few weightless Caffeine Shads. Both fairly stealth with no exposed lead to klang off the docks posts and pontoons. Can let‘em soak with the floating/fluttering tails until they get bit. Fun way to fish whether fish are aggressive or negative. But man, they were feisty yesterday…

I was up near Roosevelt this week, that’s another lake I’d like to fish some time. I really like the lakes with a smb/lmb mix. Muskies make it interesting too. Roosevelt is long and narrow, looks like a good option on those days that Leech, Woman, etc would be too windy/rough to fish. waytogo

Got out for a Few hours yesterday. Fishing was a little slower than the prior outings, but still decent. Water temps were 82 Deg. on the first lake and near 85 on the 2nd one. It seems like the fish are in much smaller schools these days. tend to get 5-6 and then the bite die’s. A key yesterday is to really SLOW down. Did well on both the dropshot and the Neko rig. Both fished painfully slow. They didn’t seem to want any part of jig and pig last night. There seemed to be some type of a small club tourney going on ( 4-6 boats ) So we packed up early and decided to try another lake . The lake’s bass #’s look really good on the DNR site with some really BIG bass in it. We could not seem to find much in it. Really shallow lake without hardly any weeds out past 3 feet and tons of scum all around the edges. Not my kind of a lake !!!! i have two lakes I have not fished yet this year that I’m looking to get out to in the next week. Hopefully the deep rock bite is going good by now on both of them. A picture of one of several nice fish we got last night

I also was on a very shallow lake yesterday – 86 degree water temps! Tried jigs, drop shot, Dark Sleeper… only a couple bites. Went to skip docks and caught a dozen between 16-19 inches. Fish really wanted the shade in this shallow dishpan lake.

Going to hit some deeper, clearer bodies of water next ~

I wish the shallow lake we were on had some docks to fish. I think only 2 docks on the lake and you could not get a boat close to either of them. Headed for deeper and cleaner lakes myself next time

Got out for a couple hours earlier in the week and found a handful on the neko and the shaky head. 2.5 lber was the biggest. The big fish still evade me….Hopefully that changes tomorrow night catfishing…. mrgreen

Shallow dark stained water. Could probably soak pasta in there and it would be done in 8 minutes…

I caught 16 largemouth this morning on a north metro lake primarily skipping docks with stick baits. I also caught a few on a spinner bait burned right next to a couple docks early this morning, but that bite died by 8am and everything was underneath in the shade after that. Biggest one I caught was 17 3/4 inches. Water temp was 79 degrees and the jet skis were heading out in full force at 11am when I left.

Did good yesterday total of 34 bass various sizes. Ned rig and chatter baits. All on weed edge. Then today got 2 bass on neko rigs and at 9 am the water skiers and jet skies came wife said we are out of here I agreed! couldn’t get on anything.

Wacky and neko. I tried sticking a nail weight in there a couple times and caught fish with and without the weight. The water is less than 2 feet deep on most of the docks so I don’t think it made much difference whether it was a fast or slow fall rate. As long as I got that plastic back in the shade under the dock the nail weight seemed irrelevant. Need a good hard rain…

I think slow fall rate is key, and yeah we need some more depth under those docks..!

Fall rate mattered for me today.
I started with heavier 3/4 jig and ended up doing much better on a lighter more finesse 3/8oz jig in black and blue. Ended up with 19 bass, biggest fish were 18-19″. Pitching the deep edges of isolated coontail patches in 8-9 ft of water.

Going to have to! My spot has dried up. I’m hoping it’s just because of the spawn. Probably will try the Croix next time out. Want to figure out the Stillwater bite because it’s so close and I keep hearing people say it’s been good.

Quick report. Got out for a few hours on Monday Evening. It was crazy Hot. Surface temps were 85-86 Deg. That’s crazy warm. I was a little surprised that the bite was rather good. Caught fish on 3 out of the 4 setups I fished; Jigworm, dropshot, and Neko rig. The jig and Pig was the only thing I did not catch fish on. Then again I did not fish it much either. Seems like the fish are in smaller schools right now or possible they shut down after a few fish are caught. The Key once again was to really slow down. I hardly worked the dropshot of Neko rig at all. Pike were on fire once again. I kind of thought the warm water would have pushed them into deeper cooler water – No Luck !!!! In this warmer water try and get the fish in and unhooked and released as quickly as possible. I noticed that they fight a lot less in this warm water. Caught a few picture fish – All Three were over 20″

I like the Tx rig crazy legs chigger craw on a 1/2 oz tungsten weight. Catches quite a few fish. I must admit a drop shot with some Ike sunrise long skinny pink floating worm works pretty well, too. My son is like VanDam. He likes cranks like square bills and the DT-family. It all works at the right time.

Fishing yesterday was a tough one new lake but not a defined weed edge any where. Ended up getting 12 bass under the docks but as soon as the sun hit couldn’t buy a fish.

Surface temps on a West Metro lake that was 81 a week ago was 75 today. A bit of a cold front but fishing was overall good. 2 guys caught 20 fish in 4.5 hours. All largemouth mostly 16-17 inches but 3 that were 18-19. One larger pike 32 inches. Caffeine Shads, jigs mostly.

Maybe a mini cold front for the fish, but beautiful weather on the human side… waytogo

Took my brother, nephews and 3 year old son out last weekend. Caught a bunch of pounders with leeches up shallow, and then had a smallie hit the actual bobber in 10 fow. Switched over to top water in 10-12 fow and caught a bunch of 16-17 inchers.

20 fish that were mostly 16-19 inches is good fishing especially when you don’t have to roast out there in the sweltering heat.

Rougher day for me yesterday. Surprisingly did not find or mark fish on the weed edges most were buried in the weeds 6-8 FOW. A bullet jig head with chigger craws got a few bass. Then used a chatter bait that worked for a few then got a 21 inch walleye on a chatter bait in 4 FOW go figure. Another lake before dusk 1 bass for me and a 15 inch crappie on a Ned rig for the wife. I think she sent the pic to everyone she knew pretty pumped she was.
