I’m a hook point up guy, some aren’t like Iaconelli. But what he does he know compared to me – ha!

My point is down. A bunch of people called me out on it last year but I have no issues with hookups and I think it makes it a little more weedless having the point down. Maybe I’m crazy but I rarely get hung up on weeds and I’m constantly fishing weedlines with it.

Getting frustrated. Most likely because I’ve been fishing White Bear lately and that tends to happen out there, but MAN, I cannot find a bass over 2 lbs right now. Dink after dink. So frustrating. All kind of different techniques, depths, structure, you name it. Just hasn’t been my year so far in terms of quality.

    Vent session over.

Had another great outing this afternoon and evening. About the same report as last outing except the Dropshot was working better than the Niko rig this outing. Fishing was a little slow when we first got out ( around 4:00 ) I think the bright sky had the fish pushed Into the weed edge. Caught a few but not the #’s as last outing. The 2nd time thru the spots the bite was much better. The main difference this outing was the surface temp. Sun. Morning the temp was 78. Today it was near 84. Up 6 deg. In 2 days. Still lots of big healthy fish and still schooled up. The spotlock is a game changer for sure. When we catch several fish we hit spotlock. You can duplicate the cast over and over. These schools are often grouped in rather small areas. A
few more pictures of some of the nicer fish caught

Rough day today was on a lake in Eastern Wright county got 7 decent bass. Got stuck in the wind squalls came fast and quick scary roughest ride I have had got the fish in 10 FOW ned rigging with craw style plastics. Then at night went to another lake could not find them shallow or on the weed edge. Casted spinnerbaits over the slop got 5 good bass one was 22 inches.

Nice “Basses” Mr Pike and Fishthumper!!!!!

A sure sign of a few good outings. A little painful but I’ll take it every day. Some Bass fishermen say you can tell if bass are primarily feeding on crayfish or baitfish by the sharpness of their teeth. Crayfish wear them down more than baitfish do. I would say I agree with this. The lakes we fish that I think they feed mostly on baitfish the teeth do seem sharper than those where its primarily a crayfish diet. The funny thing was I said to my partner on Sunday that it seemed like the teeth were not as sharp as normal. Two days later they seemed much sharper for some reason.

I get bass thumb only occasionally because there are only a few days each season where I catch enough shore bass to have it happen. I assumed you guys who catch large numbers of bass all the time develop an immunity to it. -)

Good job thump and Mr. Pike. One day of bass thumb wear with pride. If it’s more than one day in a row of fishing I bring Bacitracin!

Got out this morning for a few hours. I brought 4 rods all rigged differently and caught fish on all 4. Jigworm, Neko rig, dropshot, and punch jig with a D bomb plastic. The fish were not schooled up as much as the last few outing. A little more scattered out along the weedline. They seemed to want a larger bait today than the last few outings as well. Caught the most fish on the punch jig setup and a jig & pig. We still are catching some nice fish but had many different year class show up today which was great to see. It was a real multi-species kind of day as well. We caugh bass, Northern pike, walleye, catfish, dogfish, crappie, and sunfish. All while fishing for bass. The highlight of the day was this MONSTER cat. I seem to catch 1-2 ever year and they are all BIG. I looked back at my photos from last year and I caught one on June 21. Almost exactly 1 year ago. I also caught 1 in mid Aug. in both 2019 and 2020 almost exactly 1 year apart. I guess mid June and mid Aug. are prime cat days on this lake. Funny thing is we have never caught a small one on this lake. Looking forward to a day off to sleep in tomorrow. Hope we get all the rain that is forecasted. We really need it !!! Hope all you fathers have a great Father’s Day.

Nice kitty Fishthumper! Was out the last 2 days they seem to be scattered as well but on the weed lines. Ned rigged most but they really liked a full 5 inch senko worm the little ones got ignored got some on spinnerbaits burned over the top. I little tougher to much traffic by 10 am

What a difference the cooler weather made. I was out bank fishing this morning for 2.5 hours. I landed 10 bass and had one northern bite off after 4 runs. The bite was so good that I was able to use some of my older beat up bitten down senkos. I even got bass thumb.

When I haven’t bass or catfished in awhile I’ll take my thumb to a cheese grater just to feel alive again.

Longville area – 71 degree water temps. Lots numbers, largest smb 19 inches and lmb 20. Name of the game has been finesse/plastics. Smallies on hair jigs in 9-12 fow and largemouth on flukes/Neko on the weed edge.

Muskie took a swipe at the transducer on my trolling motor. Was drifting, prop wasn’t moving, that would’ve been interesting.

Dock skip bite up North was the most savage I’ve seen in a long time. Was on a dark stained flowage lake where the water level was way low. But if there was just enough water under the dock that you couldn’t see bottom, they were holding several aggressive fish.

I kept skipping back under time after time getting bit. Two docks in a row I caught 4 fish on each with multiple casts. They seemed like they were fighting over who gets it next! All 16-18 inchers, but got broke off by a big one I thought was a pike until he turned sideways when the line snapped and could see he was a largemouth. Dam… fun anyway though..
