Found a good one. Really really dangerous.

It’s a grapefruit gin and tonic.

Use a vegetable peeler to take off a few grapefruit rinds. Make one long one for garnish. Put the rinds in a shaker and squeeze a lime on top of the rinds. You can add simple syrup or some stevia on top of you wish. Muddle. Add ice, a few ounces of your favorite gin and fresh grapefruit juice. Shake. Pour over ice in a tall glass and top with tonic.

They go down fast. Plan for a headache in the morning.

Sounds good but I can’t eat or drink anything with grapefruit. Its a no-no with one of my meds, Tycosyn. Afib med. I love grapefruit and sorely miss eating it and drinking the juice….with or without the alcohol.

That does sound good. Will have to give it a try. The wife and I will occasionally spin up some Basil Gimlets. Mull some fresh basil from the garden in the bottom of a glass, shake up a gimlet (gin or vodka) and pour in the glass over the mulled basil. Give it a once around and you are good. A fresh twist on a classic drink. Got this idea from Lucky 13 as they had it as a special some time ago.

This could turn into a great thread. Who’s got the next round?

Got a bag of grapefruit from a customer this spring. Fresh picked from their home in Arizona. They did not last long. Actually ate them all even before getting to make a greyhound.

We soak cherries in bacardi for for a week. Strain out the cherries and reserve. The rum gets a nice red color, mix with pineapple juice and throw a cherry or two in. Great in the summer, but also dangerous!
Eat a few of the cherry bombs in the morning. yay

Not really special, but I have decided that my new favorite summer drink will be Captain and Ginger Sprite with a squeeze of lime

I share a similar concern on a daily statin regiment where anything grapefruit is cautioned. And I truly miss grapefruit and juice.

For a refreshing summer gin cocktail, there’s an easy one with pineapple juice.

For me, umbrella not required. smirk

Tito’s vodka and lemonade with a lemon wheel on the rim of the glass. With the hot weather being predicted for the 4th weekend the beer will stay in the cooler and the vodka lemonade with lots of ice will be my go to.

I am also a Tito’s and lemonade guy. The real question is what lemonade do you use? I feel like that can make a big difference. Newmans own for me

Minute made (frozen) Pink lemonade with gin (Tanqueray), we call them Pink Dinks, long story not dirty. I’m not usually a gin guy but I really like it with the lemonade. Put in an insulated glass if your worried about drinking something pink in front of the boys. I don’t think the term dink is used often enough any more. you can say dink in front of your mom.

Another one i like is a twist on a long island tea, but you substitute OJ for the sweet and sour mix, just a splash. I’d recommend Philips long island tea mix (its cheap and I like it the best). I also use caffeine free coke so I know when its time to go to bed.

We finally have a giant patch of mint so our favorite summer drink right now (other than beer) is the Mojito. I have the recipe perfected.
I like to make lemon drops in the summer also since we have the simple syrup on hand for Mojitos.

Official drink of the Bahama’s – A Goombay Smash.

1 part – light or dark rum
    1 part – Coconut Rum ( Malibu )
    1 part – spiced Rum ( Captain Morgan )
    1 part – apricot brandy
    4 parts – OJ
4 parts – Pineapple Juice ( Doles in the can is the best )

You can mix one at a time or in batch form.

Yummy drink – But real dangerous – They sneak up on you.

I prefer Minute Maid frozen concentrate pink lemonade but can’t always find it. I will go with the Minute Maid pre mix half gallon with pulp if I can’t find frozen concentrate.

When free-stone peaches come available, peel and pit and slice 4-5 nice ones and put the slices in a quart jar with vodka and cover./ Put in the fridge for 5 days. Chill a bottle of sweet white wine. Place a couple, 3 slices of peach and a healthy shot of the vodka in a glass with a couple ice cubes, add white wine to fill the glass. We call this drunken peaches. Eat a few of the peach slices and you will understand the name.

I like a cold light beer on hand, then I’d say my go to summer drink is probably a reposado tequila mixed with a lime sparkling water with a big squeeze of fresh lime in it.

Otherwise a gin and tonic is just tough to beat.

I hear the term “dink” all the time from my buddies every time I pull in a walleye. No matter how big, they always chuckle “Andy caught another dink walleye” ha ha.

BTW, I’ll assume Beefeater goes just as good with pink lemonade. wink

Cock & Bull ginger beer with vodka or a cheap bourbon.
Heck, I’ve been drinking it on the rocks over the weekend!

Best when adding a bit of lime juice but not really needed.

This stuff bites your tongue and then chokes you in the back of the throat. Love it!!

Back in college my wife and I made Jackasses.
All ingredients are poured into a blender with Ice.
    Big can of limeade
Fill that same can with Sprite
Fill that same can with gin or vodka
Crank the blender on and crush the ice and ingredients together.

A friend in college after drinking one, said he could drink 20 of them. There hours later he was passed out on our couch. Now you know why the the drink got its name. They will kick your Ass.

we have been making our own infused vodka ever since (Tom i think it was) posted the rhubarb vodka several years ago, out of many different fruits
We tried a new one last week. I’m fond of real lemonade. so after making lemonade, we put the fresh squeezed lemon peels in a vodka/simple syrup. OMG in two days hard lemonade from what has normally been tossed! very good stuff
