Hi I am planning on a Canadian trip for a week at the beginning of August. This will be our first time there and would like to know where you guys would recommend that has good fishing (mainly walleye and possibly lake trout) but also has a swimming beach for my wife and daughters. They dont care to fish but want to go and I would want them to have a great time too.
    Thanks

Last August when I was at LOTW musky fishing witnessed a guy water skiing through the channel to Miles Bay, so recreation isn’t out of the question there ;)

That said the area north of Morson has great fishing, not so much the sandy beaches but those can be found via boat.

Camp Quetico, Ontario. Appx 40 miles east of Atikokan. Google them, then call owner Barry. Tell him Lee sent you. You will not be disappointed.

We do Muskie bay resort near Nestor falls in the spring. It’s reasonable, in a bay with kid swim toys and a beautiful endless lake. He is on Crow which is 100% lake trout, but has a private access to trailer to on LOTW about a 10 min drive that you only need to strap the boat down for (gravel road all less than 15 mph). That access is more secluded and only a hand full of resorts access. Best part is it’s only 5 hours from cities, so possible to fish a half day and be home in time for a reasonable night if you are only going that far. Lake trout would be a lot of driving around with sonar and then vertical jigging on bait balls that I know of that time of year as an FYI.

Crow also offers Excellent musky fishing, excellent smallmouth fishing, and decent pike. BTW – it is one of the prettiest lakes I have ever been on.

We drive by it every year on the way to Sioux Narrows to fish LOW and it sure does look scenic!

Good point on crow. I should have said we only fish trout 100% (in the spring). I think the resort owner actually specializes in Muskie during the summer as I get the sense very few people fish trout to begin with. I would ask around if there is opportunity to cast then if that’s your thing, or if it’s more of a trolling bite. The lake is seriously 30ft deep clear, so that might drive some of the fishing technologies
