I’ve seen too many issues with Clam hubs. Eskimo is pretty much the company who brought the hub shelters to mainstream ice fishing, but Otter makes a really nice house as well. Cant go wrong with either and the CS with both companies is very good.

I’ve owned 5 different Otter’s, it’s the only brand I will ever own in the future too.. Best tub and fabric imo…yes they are a little heavier than other brands, but you get what you pay for…

I agree with Eagle, can’t beat Eskimo CS. I would stay away from Clam if possible. I have been in both the Eskimo and Otter and couldn’t find much wrong with either. I think you’ll be happy with either of the two.

Friend of mine has had a Clam Refuge for several years and he likes it. I recently purchased a Eskimo Outbreak 450i. I haven’t used it on the ice yet but I did set it up. Seems like good quality and the full door is a great option. Only thing about his Clam I didn’t like was the windows are not removable. He hasn’t had any problems with windows cracking but the visibility to see through them is becoming an issue.

Go to the stores and see them in person. All three of the big companies Clam, Eskimo, and Otter make good quality houses these days. Someone will always have something bad to say about any company. Go with what works best for you and what you like. I’ve used Otter and Clam houses for the past 6 years and haven’t had any issues with either.

Check out the Clam X400 Thermal hub. I am not a fan of Clam flipovers or their cheaper hubs but this is a quality product. It is the same as the past Clam Ice Refuge or XL4000T. Good material, nice bag and heavy duty. They are on sale for $249.99 at Marine General now. Very good buy.

The X400 is good quality. I checked one out at Cabelas. SHEELS has the older version Refuge right now for $249. I believe Amazon has the X400 right now for $290 & free shipping with Prime. Can’t go wrong with free shipping.

I bought a polar bird pop up when you could buy them a few years ago in the US. Quality is the best ive seen of any pop up. Glad i was able to get it while it was available. If there is a way for you to get one these days i would recommend it.

Otherwise im a fan of Otter
