    Hello,

Respooling today put 832 sufix braid 8 # on spinning reels 3# mono equivalent.
Put 832 sufix 832 20# on the baitcasters 6# mono equivalent.

So could I get by just putting 20# on the spinning reels I could hardy tell the difference bad eye I guess.
I fish for bass mostly Ned rigs, wacky, small jigs on the spinning reels. Just curious

I have not used 832 before, but I have used lower lb test braid (20#) on a baitcaster before and it created lots of problems with backlashes, just a heads-up.

I don’t see why you couldn’t get by fine with it on spinning gear. Go for it.

Probably just won’t cast as well

In my experience, 3lb is half the size of 6lb, I have a couple spinning setups with 20# on but use more 10. I would either stick with the 8 or try 10 or 15 before 20.

For the lures listed I wouldn’t use anything heavier than 8. Line Diameter makes a bigger difference on lighter lures.

As far as using thin diameter braid on a baitcaster, the general rule of thumb is to not go less than 30 lb braid (8 lb mono equivalent). However, I do have a couple BFS medium-light baitcasting set ups – one for Ned and one for Wacky rigging that are 20 lb braid and 6-8 lb fluorocarbon leaders.

The risk you run with braid that thin is “burying” the line in the spool. To be honest, it hasn’t happened very often for me. Just have to be careful after fighting a big fish (or more likely for me yanking on a big snag lol) be sure to pull several feet of line off the spool to make sure it isn’t wedged in there before you make your next cast.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I will stick with the 8# and as I need new line go to 30# on the baitcasters.

Sufix 832 braid is sort of on the slightly thicker side. I’ve used both 10# and 20# braids on my bait casting reels, but I typically only toss 1/4 oz to 3/8 oz lures mostly. Smaller stuff. Yes, it’s very easy to get a narly bird’s nest, but I’m just fishing for fun so I take it easy. Avoid winds when ever possible and almost never bird nest.

I also have 30# and 50# on other bait casting reels. Obviously those are for lures of typically 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz ratings for me.
