Is this new this year? Bought a spool online, usually use 3 pound fluoroice but it seems they no longer stick it at most stores. I tried 3 pound in lime green

I’m curious about reviews on this as well. I cannot stand ice fishing braid and its icing up (yes they all do it, regardless of what the manufacturers claim).

I have used advanced mono on my open water and ice fishing rods since it came out. Actually I have started using it instead of braid. I plan on trying the ice mono (neon) this year and would be interested in any reports. My only complaint with advanced mono is the line is hard for me to see. Good news is I have read Sufix will be offering advanced mono in neon later this year.

I picked up 3lb spool to try this season. It’s going to be tough to beat standard 3lb Sufix Ice Magic, which is cheaper, widely available, and can be purchased in the bulk spools.

Last winter I was using the standard 6lb Sufix Advanced on my TUCR Commander and liked it, despite being a little prone to coils.

“A little prone to coils” I couldn’t keep the stuff on the reel, horrible. Before you start on me, yes I do know how to wind line. The summer stuff was just as bad too. Newer isn’t always better, as we’re finding out as more companies try to expand their offerings. JMHO

I will definitely take your word for it. However, do you have something else you recommend in 4lb or 5lb for mono?

Interesting, I find the Advanced to be easily the most supple copolymer out there. Mono and co are quite different lines and equating mono with a co isn’t a fair comparison.

I had it on 2 rods. Enjoyed it. Lil bit more stretch than sensation and a tiny bit less sensitive, but a very good alternative.

Tore off some braid Sunday in Hastings, froze up, had some 8lb sensation threw on quick. Whew, we wanna talk about coiling up……several casts later all good. waytogo

I also did not have it coil to bad. It all coils some. Have not tried the ice line yet.

Try this, After spooling line on place the spool in hot water for a few minutes no more coiled line and falling off spool.

Has anyone tried the “Frost Ice Monofilament Fishing Line” by Clam? I’m interested as it offers a 5# line instead of just 4 or 6.

I’ve been using both Frost mono and fluoro and have been really happy with it. Use the fluoro for leader material. I use 3lb mono for panfish and 6lb for eyes.

Have bought spools of the 4 & 6 lb regular advanced mono. It hasn’t coiled too bad off the spool, but it has had terrible twisting memory after fish catches. I have had to cut off the end sections at times. Not a fan.

I plan on trying the Frost too. I have to believe Clam is repackaging a current line companies product right? They didn’t start a new line factory so it’s probably a product we’ve all used before. I’ll probably be singing it’s praises and find out it’s made by Suffix. 🤷‍♂️

I’m going to try it solely because it comes in 5# test for my walleye rods. I’ll be sure to report back by the holidays or so on my findings.

I’ve been using the Suffix Advance on a couple open water jigging setups for two years now a really like it. I have ALSO been using the Clam Frost mono on dead sticks and panfish rods for two ice seasons now and REALLY like that for an ice mono, so I probably won’t be switching.
