I am looking at buying a large spool of braid and am trying to determine difference between 832 and Performance braids by Sufix. I have read the descriptions on their website, but I am not seeing what really makes 832 any better. I see the gore fiber in mix, but what does that really do? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

I feel it is smoother and seems to last longer. I have both I honestly think the 832 is far better and durability too.

I’d personally consider a different braid altogether. Suffix 832 is not high on my list of favorites.

Personally I’d consider Power Pro Super Slick. I think they have a new version called V2. It casts so much better than 832 and is so much quieter going through your guides. I have 0 issues with wind knots and 0 issues with knots altogether. It’s a superior line in my opinion.

You may want to Check out Sierra trading on line. They have 1/2 price Power Pro Super Slick 8 in all tests except 10. $10 for 150 yards, $20 for 300. cant beat that deal.

performance braid floats and 832 sinks.

I used Performance Braid for a long time before using 832.

Performance in the 50-65# has 6 strands. 80# has 9 strands…maybe down to 8 now. 40# and below is rather noisy with 4 strands.

832 is well 8 strands so it’s smoother. It’s pretty good 10-30# that I’ve used.
The gore fiber is stiffer and also heavier density so as to sink in water. The single gore fiber kind of throws the line off touch in a subtle way. Shows more when line is worn in and the gore fiber begins to be more noticeable.

it depends if you are casting or trolling. 832 might be the original Gore fiber line. It is smooth and has a little stretch to it.I have used it on spinning and ambassadeur casting reels with great success. Recently, advertising has come out with lines called “slick”. I haven’t tried them but they may have got the idea from Sufix 832? Try a few lines and see what you like. Then buy a large spool. Check for manufacturer rebates as well.

The Sufix fibers will actually loosen a bit if trolling with it for a while. Better to use Berkely power braid for trolling. No noticeable stretch when i have used it trolling with pike/musky lures salmon spoons with flashers.

Not related but if you use a fluorocarbon leader/line make sure it’s 100 percent fluorocarbon like Seaguar or Hi-Seas. See this link about fluorocarbon myths: https://seaguar.com/applications/myths.html . Some lines out there say fluorocarbon but are less than 100 percent.
